Honest beliefs that left you Speechless?

My aunt (who is a devout catholic and also a raving moron) once announced that in lieu of effective scientific forms of birth control for her new marriage she'd be using an all natural method. That get this. Involving the use of cotton balls and scotch tape to monitor "wetness" day to day. She got pregnant roughly a week afterwards.

Less serious note - this girl in my COLLEGE class was wondering why in spanish a hamburger is called a hamburguesa and not a mano-burger. We all were like *WTF!????....

Then it clicked in someone's head, and they shouted "OMG I can't believe you!" Apperantly, even though this girl is full American and has eaten hamburgers all her life, she thought they were called HANDburgers - since you know, you eat em with your hands. SO naturally, they should be called Manoburgers since mano = hand in spanish.

It was really funny for like 2 seconds, then the class was completely quiet. I think we were in awe of her stupidity or at least the oddity of the situation.

Honest beliefs huh? What about chain emails/messages. Those kind of stuff really gives me the creeps! Specially mails that says "You'll die if you dont send this to blah! blah! blah!" But I still don't forward those emails. XD

When my dad bought his first computer a couple years ago he would always click on the female advertisements that tried to "chat" with him, he found it funny that they just wanted to talk to him so badly that they would follow him around the internet trying to talk to him.

Then one day he was playing poker with a bunch of his younger female Facebook friends when he exclaimed "Look at all of these girls! They lust for me!"

I told him he could write a book entitled "How I survived my midlife crisis" but it went over his head. :)



Within the last month I've also been asked by two different people to sell them a USB memory stick so that they could save the internet connection and bring it home to their house. I tried to explain how a USB wireless network card worked in laymens terms and how it isn't saving the connection but I just know I didn't get through to them, they looked like they thought I was just shoving them off.

I live in alabama.....

Indians who believe that they're no Asian. One time in high school, I was talking with an Indian classmate when I told him I would love to visit Asia one day. He waqs really offended for some reason and started telling me that he wasn't Chinese and shit. Lecture went on for close to 5 minutes.

I just stood there shaking my head the entire time. I was planning on giving him a nice geography lesson, but I got bored of him and left as soon as he stopped talking.

But if you dont send chain messages that the facebook guy gives you, your account will be deleted.



Hey at least he didn't think that Asia was in New Jersey... How stupid can that get?

Last year, there was a really queer student that I ate lunch with who said something along the lines of "Hm? Porn is for immature people, I grew out of it when I was 12" and he also said "Sports are for lazy people" plus he doesnt know who Chuck Norris or King Author is...

I remember years ago, I believe during high school when i started collecting anime/manga someone in my school(she was pretty stupid btw) asked me, "Isn't all this anime like porn and naked women?" So I just stared at here for a good 30 seconds or so and I was like /facepalm "you cant be serious. Anime isnt all porn and shit, thats what hentai's for. Know the difference already." Of course I've had similar things like this after a while from that point on and now i rarely say anything about anime because of idiots like this. I think i also encountered someone saying something about cosplayers but idr anything about it anymore.

I mostly spend my time at the University (CS), so I rarely get the chance to be really surprised by something stupid, since the first year everyone is at a different campus, so all the air-heads have been "cut". But I actually managed to become totally speechless two days ago :)

What happened was that I was talking to a new Chinese master student, and I mentioned the word geek and he goes
-"what is that?"
-"It is like nerd"
-"Oh, I think I know that, I will show you"
he then translates on his computer from Chinese and the word on his screen is "paranoid", I was totally speechless, for like a minute, since we are both Geeks, so I expected him to know one of the words, but mostly because of what he then thought nerd meant..


Another case I remember (though this might just be me not understanding girls) was with my ex.
We were talking about her not liking my parents, and she flat out states that if one of us does not like something then the other should COMPLETELY stop seeing/doing that. My argument was of cause that we did have to see my parents that often then maybe only on Christmas and my birthday, but it somehow did not make sense to her, it was just better for me never to see them again...

Nice you caught that... no wonder why I felt as if there was something wrong with what I just typed....

I have two more wonderful stories to share with you all, both occurred on xbox live.

First, I accidentally threw a grenade into a wall in call of duty 4, and did not escape the horrible pain radius, so I died right? first thing I hear is "jeez marc, what are you? some kind of massagenist?"(<-that's how he pronounced it) I was momentarily stunned, then I realized what he had meant, so I asked him if he masochist, the response? "what the fucks a masochist?" everyone in the game winced, it was terrible.

The second terrible happening, occurred while discussing call of duty 2-WaW with a team-mate. us being the only two people with mic's on are team, we where talking about call of duty 2, and how it was better the WaW and he brought this up. "I liked Cod2 and WaW, but Im tired of visiting the same fictional war, cod4 was a step in the right direction.". After the initial shock, I asked him some questions, and tried to explain to him that World war 2 actually happened. Fourteen, and this kid didn't know about WW2, and told me I was an idiot for thinking it happened. Well game ends, and I proceed to tell the other team, and after much persuasion (entire team TK'd him till he googled it) he realised his error.

well, my contibution is from a friend of mine who i though i knew pretty well, but had the biggest shock in my life after hearing what she had to say about the Swine Flu virus or H1N1 strain (think thats the one, to lazy to google), anyhow, we were driving out to the chemist to go pick up a prescription and on the radio the news reader was stating the outbreaks and such happening all over (this was when the swine flu was about a week old) anyway, after the news reader finnished, my friend, out of the blue stated, that the Swine Flu is infact a goverment created virus used to thin out man-kind cause we are over populating the earth.....i was like WTF!

iam still speechless, i didnt ever bother trying to explain it to her on the count that i was to brain dead from the shock!
to this day i still cant believe she said that,lol

This happened yesterday night while me and my mother were having dinner.

Some news came up about the death of somebody, and one of the footage was of some caskets. And I mentioned how awful it was for people to take advantage of others who've lost close friends or family into buying expensive caskets. My mother agreed that it was awful. And she mentioned that she didn't want me to buy her an expensive casket when she died. She said wanted her body to be donated to science and that a few prayers for her once in a while were enough.

Then she started talking how she would meet up her brother and her parents in heaven when she died. And then when me and my brother died too, she would finally be able to introduce me to her brother and her parents (that died shortly before I was born).

The whole thing hurt me inside a little. How could she say something like that? And say it with such conviction? I cannot understand it.

I have one. when i'm talking to my friends in college, about how the light from star that you see is actually from long ago, and it took years to the light to travel to earth. then he asked me:

"then how about falling star".

I said " well falling star is a meteor, not really a star..."

then he said to me "no, you're wrong falling star is a soul of the sinner that god throw to hell".

i was about to laugh it off, until i saw that he really mean it. then he started to talk about how the earth is the center of the universe. i stopped listening when he said something about how coca cola and mcd is owned by the jew and used to fund the war...

really, i though being a college student requires a certain degree of rationality. i guess i was mistaken.

One thing that comes to mind is that, back in high school during a Psychology class, we were discussing animal experimentation and if it was allowable for animals that are usually house pets to be experimented on in addition to rats, monkeys, etc. And one person said, "God created animals solely to be used by Man." I was quite disgusted.

Gawd, you have no idea how much we Chinese hope for India to be NOT part of Asia.

And no, that is not just my opinion.

Yeah, funny how 'God' nowadays can be so different from 'God' from then... We went from glassing two Sodoma and Gomorra to 'I bring you loveee...' (a la Mr. Burns)
