How is Being Gay or a Virgin a bad thing..?

Nowadays in today's society, The most common insult (especially on the internet) is ''Go lose your virginity'' or ''You're Gay dude'' etc, etc..

i don't understand why people label these things as bad things. I'm not ashamed to say that i'm a virgin but i refuse to lose my virginity until i'm married or i am generally convinced i'm with the right woman. Yet people today go out and have a wild amount of sex, leading to getting pregnant at a young age completely destroying their life or getting STD's (or even AIDS.)

And one of my Ex's is Bi-Sexual (she's a woman BTW) and people seem to be accepting of Lesbians and Bi-Sexual Women but Homosexual men are condemned and in some countries, it's much worse. Take Jamaica for an example who glorify the fact that they KILL homosexuals.

This is a very personal topic to me because one of my Best Friends is Gay and he was very depressed because of it and ever since i graduated to college, i have not seen him or heard from him since and i shudder to think if he did the unthinkable.

I'm talking about people who generally have a problem with gay people or they treat them like shit because it's not 'normal' and people who think that losing your virginity is the be all end all and if you don't do the same, you are considered a loser. I don't mind people that use the word gay because i know that they don't mean to say it as an insult to homosexuals.

In my perception, whenever I called people "gay" it does not mean I call them a homosexual.
It's just gay, maybe like weird or something. And I never tell people to "Go lose your virginity" too since it isn't insulting at all.

Well, nowadays society thinks that being gay is normal.
I don't completely agree with it, but it doesn't mean I despise gay people.
I'm just acting normally, just like how I treat straight people.
Gay or straight, we're still human anyway.

[font=verdana][color=green]I think it's because the society is generally quite masculine in England. As such, whereas bisexuals and lesbians have "more acceptance" among men (for quite obvious reasons), the homosexual male isn't afforded that form of acceptance.

So, no, nothing is wrong with being gay or a virgin, and it never will be. But, I daresay, in the next few decades, that mindset will gradually reduce to a mere minority.

Just to add a few points:

- Being homosexual is NOT normal but that does not mean it is wrong (vaccinations
are not normal either but that does not make them wrong).

- I have never heard the phrase "go lose your virginity" as an insult. That sounds
stupid.

- Gay much like fuck and shit is really just becoming something that is thrown
around randomly hence somewhat losing its impact in my opinion so really
people nowadays do not seem as worked up about it as before.

I only use the gay to describe homosexual people because using it for anything other then that and saying something is happy is a misuse of the word. Also "bright and colorful".

And I have only seen people use virginity as insult when the people insulting were complete idiots.

I don't say "gay" or "virgin" to demean anyone. The main basis of it being considered a bad thing seems more instinctual. Animals that are dominant have more sex, and a virgin has had none. Gay sex doesn't create any offspring, and as Tristan said it isn't natural. Besides, words only mean what you want them to in the end.

I am personally very opinionated about homosexuals, well, until I discovered one of my childhood friends is bisexual...
And I see nothing wrong with being a virgin. Abstinence until marriage has been and always will be my policy.

As others have said, they're just used as insults nowadays as opposed to the real meaning. However, the virgin insult is also used to boast, as if it is that big of a deal. One of my "pals" used it a lot of times against me, got borderline stupid when he used that as for he had nothing else to say. Kind of a shame how losing one's virginity is that big of a deal nowadays.

There's no point in getting worked up about people using the word gay. It's already been reduced to nothing more than an insult, albeit one that degrades gay people. But it's generally not used with that intent, yes?

And though our bodies are not designed for girl-on-girl/guy-on-guy action, we can not reject/deny the power of love!

And if people tell you to lose your virginity (personally, I've never heard that before), they're probably just telling you to grow up, since, obviously, you're a big boy when you've fucked someone. But of course, that's just stupid.

Actually, the answer is simple. It was never a bad thing, it would only turn bad if you thought about it yourself.

To others its a bad thing, because they dislike it, they get grossed our or offended or like wtf is this freak doing here kind of mood.

Its only natural, just don't mind them set it aside. Personally I hate homosexuals, but I do my best to avoid them so I would not hurt anyone in turn. Simple as that.

There are millions of factors, religious, peer-pressure, popularity, parental problems, aspirations...or simply the way they were raised and who they hang out with which creates the floor plan of what they they will think of others...so don't take their offensiveness at face value it was simply what the learnt which made them who they are....

I'm not a virgin nor am I gay but my best friend lee although before a cool bro before he is now a lady-boy but that didn't change anything...we are still bestfriends so people who make gay jokes or a extremly sexual people is who they are; :D

Those people just want to impose their ideals on other people, people have the right to live life the way they want period. And about the virginity thing it will come when it needs to.

*Sigh* Such is the way of ignorant people in this world. It's kinda sad how you put it, and it's even more sad that it's true. I know some people that are gay and I respect them, some I even look up upon, seeing how they handle things in such a gay-hating world. About virginity, it's crazy, people tend to loose their's as quickly as possible, once I saw a girl asking if "It hurts if she breaks her hymen with a sausage" in a Q&A site(Forgot where), unbelievable.

The word ' gay ' should NEVER be a - verb. - The only reason people use that word because they CANT UNDERSTAND what gay is. We humans attack anything we dont know about and gay people are living two ways - outside of the bedroom and inside but NEVER both. I seen what happens to you if dont know each thing. I dont care about virgins for the fact its their choice. Being gay is NOT a choice when you MUST do it or buy a womans time.

I do think its funny that all adult forums have repeating questions every blue moon when they are all looking for any new infomation. Gay ? really ? Being a virgin ? Really ? This is not a dating site so let it go.

Both homosexuality and virginity (as measures of purity and/or value) are constructs of our minds, defined by our minds; therefore, being gay or virginal is only bad to people who think it is, and vice-versa, and you need to stop musing about it, for almost no one will actually change their minds.

I've always hated that people are in such a rush to experience everything! I always told myself that I wanted to be 18 or older when I lost my virginity. I don't think most teenagers are ready for that experience when that happens and I grew up watching Maury! :P I know if some scum-bag 16 year old knocked me up that he couldn't provide for a family, no sex!

Haha, but yeah... Ridiculous how my brothers wife at the time (she was just a year older than me, they're divorced now. :P) kept telling me how I was pitiful because I was scared of sex. Scared? No, I just didn't want to regret my first time or have it come with consequences I wasn't ready to handle.

As for the gay thing, it is sad but it's true that men are most accepting of lesbians condsidering they view them as a free show. I've EXPLAINED to men that lesbian means he never has a chance with her, but they're content to watch. Its a horrible double standard but there is nothing wrong with being gay or a lesbian, people are becoming more and more understanding with time.

When isulting someone, the point is to hurt them or at least rile them up. Insults are verbal weapons. I think minority of those who call others gay or virgin actually thinks those things are that bad, but they might be things that especially young people are insecure about, and thus they work well as insults. Maybe it's personal experience, inside knowledge or learned from somewhere, but the insulter (shut up, it should be a word) thinks it's effective for their cause.

And then there is the whole thing about the word gay not meaning homosexual in all contexts, but that has been said already.

I also don't understand this ridiculous idea that being a virgin is something to be embarassed about. I for one am still a virgin as well. And as for the gay part, well I am not personally, however I am friends with a gay dude. I think it's just terrible that the Military only recently allowed gay soldiers into its ranks. I believe that that's just messed up. They should have been allowed to serve decades ago.
