How is Being Gay or a Virgin a bad thing..?

Hmm...I like how you used Jamaica as an example for this...For the record, am a Jamaican.It's your choice if you want to believe me or not, but we don't glorify the act of kill homosexuals. Yes, it may be in our Dancehall and certain parts of the society and culture, but that is only the dark negative side your looking at. I don't believe it right but i think it's even worst for a man to take another man's life. One of my friends that grew up in same yard together, he is homosexual. Yet we still talk and defend him as a friend should. I think cause of how our 'strong' mentality towards the old ways of the old day are, and how they(homosexuals) display themselves in front of the people in our society, but not because we see them will cause people to start a man hunt for homosexuals. Only the lower class culture seem to keep with this but all and all, every one is who they are and such. Now a days, people are slowly accepting this in Jamaica and are more tolerable about it.

I for one have some points on this, for i have been in both situations (both being called gay and mocked for being a virgin) and i do agree it is wrong, it's like judging a person just for their choices. Am an 18 year old virgin, and choose to wait til marriage, not cause of religious beliefs, but cause i have more important thing like get my education, enjoy my relationships with my gf and follow my dreams. Am sure in the future when i meet the right girl(to get married with), i get into that but for now, my dreams come first. I have seen many being disrespected by being called gay or a virgin and most times it just to get a laugh, but it really does affect some other who will not see it like that. I believe every person has a right how they choose to live their life. So if a man/woman wants to wait til marriage to have sex or become gay, well so be it. Nothing is wrong, as long as your understanding and try not force your beliefs on people.

So ya, every one has a right to not to be judged for their choices, for it's their choices who make them who they are.

Being gay isn't even a taboo anymore. If I found out any of my close friends were gay I wouldn't even care.

it is used as an insult to gay people. it starts out with the belief that being gay is bad or wrong. so you can insult someone by saying that they're gay because being gay is equated with being bad, wrong, etc. so i try not to use the word gay in that way.



as far as the virginity thing, i don't think its a bad thing to be a virgin. i DO however have a problem with virgins who think that being a non-virgin means that someone is slut, man-whore, immoral, etc. it's not either you're a good virgin or you're a slut with gonorrhea who has 5 kids by the age of 20

Lot of people view gay (sex and stuff) as disgusting. Not really hard to understand then why some people view gays as disgusting and why it's a bad word. We also have the retarded way, that gays who like to show the world that they are gay, act.
Most people like sex, most people want to have sex. Someone who doesn't want to have sex is then different, people who are different get bashed. Someone who wants to have sex but isn't getting any is failing. These people also get bashed.

I for one don't care if you have never had sex before (to be honest it's awesome but I won't condemn those who haven't) or prefer men over females, or you enjoy both, or if you like doing unspeakable things to a lamp post (just not in front of me and in public please.)

the word gay for me is a word thrown at anyone for anything. If I hear the word fag or homo, then I consider it an insult. My cousin was bullied in school for liking his own sex, so I always stood up for him when they started to pick on him for it. Not like I stand up for it, but I strongly believe that people have the right to be what they are, without being forced to change it.

people insult me all the time calling me gay or virgin, they don't even know if i am either of these titles but the easiest way to defend myself is to either out smart them or call them short :p i have been insulted because i have long hair and im a guy (how can you even insult long hair L it's epicsauce) but idk my best insult is "you are right, i should probably go cut my hair? or maybe go have sex? but you know what.. you should grow taller, oh wait my bad you can't just go and do that.. because you're short" and i know that is a low blow for me to cast but tbh it stops tools from insulting me because what can you do when someone is taller than you, i mean most of the insults people throw at you these days are things you can easily change but heigh is something that sticks with you forever also intelligence, if im more intelligent than somebody and they are insulting me i will pick them up on that. this normally makes people even more angry but what do i care Lol they shouldn't of been insulting me in the first place.

Not so much a bad thing. It is just a societal view. People fear things not like the norm. So if you are a virgin your friends pursue you until you have been laid once. And if your gay, you take flak from die-hard religious believers and homophobes.

Imagine if your name became a synonym for lame, stupid, and uncool. "Wow, that's so Mark!" "Way to be Jeremy." "He's the most Dwayne guy I know." It'd be pretty annoying, right?

You may not personally have anything against gays, but when you say something is gay in a pejorative manner, you're... really, really not helping. Not trying to call you out personally, but I intensely dislike that kind of rationale.

Being gay or a virgin are bad things because gay people and those who are virgins aren't making more people. If everyone was gay or a virgin there wouldn't be any people left. >_

I think these terms just get thrown around too much and lose their meanings. If I wanted to voice my opinion I would call it stupid or ignoramus. My mother taught me that "Gay" meant happy and was a rude word to use describing homosexuals, but not to label them so because they are people just like everyone else and no different to me no matter their gender preference. Needless to say I like to think of myself as slightly more intelligent to have a more suitable arsenal of words known to me if a keyboard warrior comes a knockin'.

As for the virgin quips, IMO it's people who (And I'm not saying this goes for everyone) regret the situation in which they lost their virginity (if it really was that important in the first place) who feel the need to diss those who are proud to say they want to find their soul mate before letting "temple grounds collide" (in reference to the term "My body is a temple as marriage is sacred, sex is a bond created in love allowed by matrimony for the miracle of life to be continued etc.") More power to you if you are proud for what you believe in. I would have protected my virginity a lot better if i wasn't so naive and trying to be a rebel in my teens.

Being gay isn't a bad thing, and being a virgin isn't either.

It's more of someones tastes. if they like it, go for it.

I met plenty who were gay and also virgins, they are just normal people.

So if someone tells anybody that being gay or a virgin is bad, you go tell them that Legendary_Dollci don't think so.

For that to be true you'd have to be talking to someone who is about to die or already dead. Since just because someone is a virgin dosen't mean they're going to stay one forever, same for gays, although it's less likely in their case.
Also, just because someone is not a virgin dosen't mean they have kids XD

In my case, I'm not a fan of gays. I may even be considered homophobic, but I wouldn't call someone fay just to offend them, and a wouldn't start hating on a gay in person, I wouldn't befriend them, but I still would be polite.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being Gay or a virgin, two of my good friends are Gay and I am cool with that and I would happily be friends with a virgin too if i was to befriend one.

The only thing that is wrong is when you get those who wanna shove it down your throat you know? I mean the sort who spends all there time telling you "Im Gay and I am proud" or "I am saving myself for that special someone"...

Don't avoid the question: what if your name was used the way that you use "gay"? How would you feel about that? Not just every now and then, but constantly, from complete strangers who know nothing about you other than a stereotype?

You're probably not used to being criticized for how you say things because you've invoked having an opinion that's supposed to mean something. Everyone has an opinion. LGBTQ people have opinions too, and many of them, if not most, don't appreciate having terms like "gay" used to mean things like...
