Now back to the main topic.
Peace is NOT an illusion, why are some Fakku-ers doubting that? I am sure that the poorest people who have nothing, have greater hope in peace and believe in it also, more than everybody else in the world does.
Many people believe that peace can NEVER be obtained, if that is the case then answer my question:
Why are people fighting for it?
Why do they fight for an ideal that seems like an illusion?
Why are they desperately fighting for a change in the world?
And I won't take a dumb answer for an answer, but please explain it to me in a correct manner why they fight for it.
First of all humans are animals, look it up, who have evolved unnatrually. Second, your statement suggested that humans are superior to any other animal, plant, fungi, and bacteria species which show the fundamentals of pride. Funny how you mention greed but you didn't really mention pride too much and we all know, at least I hope so, that any form of pride can lead to conflicts and eventually full scale war.
Ok thats out of my system. Now Iam gonna give you a philisophical, excuse my misspelings, explaination to why acheiving perament peace will never ever happen.
Trying to acheive perament peace is not really a great idea in the first place. By the way Iam a taoist, well I believe in the ideals. For those who dont know what a taoist is, a taoist is a person who follows the path of the tao, also know as the true way. Basically, they believe in the nature of yin yang and they try to maintain balance. On a side mot, BALANCE AND PEACE ARE TWO DIFFERENT CONCEPT ACHEIVING PEACE IS NOT THE SAME AS ACHEIVING BALANCE!!!!!! Just want to make that clear. Peace will be consider yin energy and war yang energy. Now if you somehow someway acheive the truly impossible and bring perament peace to the world there will be dire consequences. Wait the consequences would be on an armageddon scale. Having peace but no war would bring imbalance and eventually war will come again but on a grander than ever before. So perament peace, yeah not a wise chice.

I had many people on who i wanted to reply so i'll just say what i think abouth it :
I have no idea if peace is possible but it's not by unity .
Even if we had one nation uniting everyone , what would happen next ? People will rebel , there will never be a nation where all humans will want to live the same way , this is humanity , everyone is different and therefor cannot all live together .
The way that i see it , there might be one solution , but it might also not work . Let's say you want to make realise a guy that he's an asshole , what do you do ? You hit him as hard as you can . He might understand or he might not .
One option is a futur predicted by John Titor , where the world suffered so much by wars and it is so hard to live on earth that you can't survive without peace . The other option is a fallout futur , even at the brink of instinction , war never changes .
I have no idea if peace is possible but it's not by unity .

I don't think that peace is something the world leaders actually strive for, only a bi-product that occurs from time to time. I also don't believe that something such as world peace has ever occurred or ever will (unless we go through nuclear war and kill everyone and all that crap). I do believe that peace is something that is very much achievable on smaller levels and that there are plenty of people who strive for it, but those kinds of people do not seek positions of power and will never hold them.

Peace is an unobtainable idea because of certain structures of government and religion. As long as there are separate religions, and separate governments, peace is completely out of the question.

Peace is simply everything co-existing in harmony with one another. But what people seem to forget is that we naturally can't stand any form of co-existence. There always has to be conflict. The war with the middle east was a terrorist hunt, and according to Bush "would have brought peace", but look at it. Millions of dollars later and all we got is a dead muslim, a country thinking the government attacked itself to start a war (not the first time anyway), and a country that hates any and all Americans because of the peril we put the mid-eastern civilians in. Happens all through out history. The revolutionary war was originally for peace purposes but as we progressed we then fought each other. Look at the segregation movement, it cost black people their lives for a perverted twist on "peace". They have rights, but are still hated upon and considered the root of America's problems for some reason. So to answer your question, yes, peace is an illusion. It is a nice little form of ignorance we people all share in.

peace would be a waste of time anyway. Once achieved, all of peoples attention and ability would have to be devoted towards maintaining it. Which would slow down the developement of society, technology, etc. I sometimes feel that peace can be associated with fear. Fear of death, fear of suffering. In that sense, peace is selfish in nature. Is a selfish, all consuming idea really what people want? Peace can go to hell.

Yes, peace is just like perfection, you shrive for it but it's never gonna happen. Things such as peace and perfection are just words to give you a reason to work hard and do your best, and there is nothing wrong with that

What I meant by light and darkness is explaining that almost everything in the universe has something that is the opposite of the other, just like sickness there is also health, heat with cold, or even my personal favorite, Good and bad...
However I cannot explain if peace is light or darkness, depends on who sees what based on their perspective on things.
I cannot give you a solid answer on which is the absence of which, but I can tell you this with confidence ... that almost everything has their counterpart.

Peace would never be obtained in this world if we still maintain our "humanity".
It's a human character to be greedy, to be selfish, to have an opinion, etc etc that can lead to a conflict.

Ultimate, never-ending PEACE is the worst-case scenario for humanity.
It's the conflict that shape us, that strenghten us and apathy that erodes us, destroys us.
We humans are vile beasts by nature. We kill for fun. Were it not for law enforcement, we would kill random people for pitiful reasons.
It is in our nature to be aggresive, hateful, racist and envious. That's because all "good guys" were killed in the past and never had children. Have you ever wondered why we have so many liars, killers, maniacs, pedophiles,... and so few actual heroes? Heroes are all dead.
We help, because we fear what would others say if we didn't help.
We help, because we fear ethernal damnation.
We help, because we believe in Karma.
We help, because some 2000yo book says we should.
That's what we are. We fear consequences of not helping, so we help. Our great civilization is built on lies we tell to each other, even to ourselves.
We are nothing, just aggresive apes in expensive suits. That's why war and struggle are the norm in the world.
Human race doesn't know what 'peace' even means. It's an empty word, so we tend to give it meaning. Usually, "a peaceful world" means world devoid of war, suffering, famine.... a perfect world in a nutshell.
But we, human monsters, can't live in such a world. We would destroy it, because we would hate the boredom it brought.

It's funny that we all say peace is unattainable and that it's against all our rules. Rules were created so we could capture an idea and maintain it. Have you seen Doctor Who?

Rules are like that because no one has ever challenged them and defied them and said ,"A bunch of filfidel!" Peace is easy once you get rid of structure. Sure people say without structure people say humanity goes to the dumps. The only reason is because they've only ever known monotomy and structure and normalacy, that the moment they are free they don't want it. People fool themselves and think everything is set in a certain way. It's not. True peace can be attained, but it's difficult and some argue impossible. For some species, they live in perfect, well not really perfect but you get it, symbiosis. We can achieve that, all of standing side by side if we get rid of our pregidice, our fear of one another, our misgivings, misunderstandings, and preconceptions. To me, peace will never exist, ever unless the people gets lobotomized. At least peace as in all violance and the like ends forever, not just wars.
As for wars, I believe strongly that our world will have periods where it is decreased greatly, and other periods it increases.
