Should cigarettes/tobacco be illegal?

As far as i see it, as long as that person know better and is of the age, it their choice if they want to poison their body. Just don't smoke in public areas that are packed, so that second-hand smoke isn't affecting the rest of the public.As for the ban, it would just make things worst.

Your problem is that you understand why people shouldn't smoke , but you don't even understand why people are smoking anyway . I would guess you are a non smoker and never smoked , am i right ? How can you judge something you don't fully understand ?

I'm kind of tired to hear people say that prohibition doesn't work , this is not a valid arguement . Yes prohibition doesn't work but it's not a reason why you should think that it should be legal . A way easyer arguement is just to ask ; why should it be illegal in the first place ?

Instead to fix an issue by banning sum, why not fix it? cig contain over 6000 of garbage besides the actual tobacco, get the cig companies to stop adding bs to smokes ... the brand i use is all natural. moderation is the key, i know people who have been smoking for 30+ years and they can breath better than i did while i smoke red commercial cigs. if all of you are more worry cuz of health issues, how about car n airplane exhaustion? we breath all that too.. now that i use vapes i feel much better.

I think there should be a ban on smoking in crowded places, but not altogether. The stench of cigarettes is absolutely disgusting, but I think that banning them is too far. That said, I'd kinda like to go to crowded places without passing by someone smoking. I can hold my breath when I'm around them, but if I'm waiting for someone or something, it's generally an annoyance.

Since smokers exhale, and thus, everyone else shares the smoke they're enjoying, smokers pose a risk to non smokers.

As such, ban smoking, for the same reason firing guns with live ammo in the air is illegal. YOU might find it fun, and the bullet will likely hit nothing, but tell that to the poor sap that does get hit.

I don't like smoking, but I would not go to the distance of stopping someone as long as they don't smoke in front of children.

You say the arguement of second smoke ? Well instead of banning cigarrettes wouldn't it be more logical to ban second smoke if this is the real problem ? Make laws so you can't smoke in public buldings and bam , no more second smoke for you without banning cigarrettes .

Let people destroy their lungs. I don't smoke cigarettes but I am a pipe smoker and it is one of the few things that I enjoy doing on a day where the weather is beautiful and I have nothing to do. Smoking may be bad for you but it brings comfort to many and those who want it illegal do not understand how hard it is to quit. Again, I don't know what it's like to be addicted to nicotine but I don't want to have to deal with a bunch of assholes going through withdrawl, they're not fun. Making things like cigarettes illegal is only going to cause problems. Look at what happened when they make alcohol illegal, that's when organized crime really took control. Same thing with pot and other drugs.

Ugh... I really.. I'm torn on this subject. It's extremely harmful in many different ways, but as His-Holy-Blackness already said, people would pretty much drink Bleach if it didn't kill you immediately and also got you high. Prohibition wouldn't work, it's true...

Still, I can't help but despair over the retardation that has cigarettes as legal, but cannabis as illegal.

You Americans/Brits must be behind times or something XD a general ban on all tobacco products is already making it's way through state parliament in Tasmania, Australia. The bill effectively prohibits the sale of tobacco to anyone born after the year 2000. I know what you're thinking, kids born after 2000 will just get someone older to buy it for them, and a black market will thrive just like the prohibition era in the United States. But the rational here is that tobacco smoking as a habit will eventually decline as we get to the year 2100.

Smoking is the source of lots of bad things and banning it would be a solution, although I think it won't be that easy since smoking has exist for many generations, so my answer is "Like I Care" since fighting it or relieve it won't do any good
