Suicide & Euthanasia

Hell I've alway thought "If they wanna die, let 'em"(< very dark mindset) people may be right "It's selfish!", "Its a sin!", "What about the people around you!". Look if a person wants to die you should have no right to try and put them down about. And hell if I had cancer or a sickness thats uncurable and causing me unbearable pain cause its eatting away at my insides, I'd tell ya to kill and MEAN IT, its pointless to keep people doomed to die alive longer than they want, that just people pushin' their opinon on others and thats not right.

I once actually considered committing suicide, but then a girl I met on the internet (of all places) inadvertently convinced me not to do it. I was a freshman in high school at the time, and everything sucked not because it was worse than anyone else's fate, but because everything I did just made me feel worse, kind of like that brief story arc of South Park in which Stan sees nothing but shit, only less literal. I was later diagnosed with depression, and I found some help and all that jazz.

I'd say that suicide is seldom worth the cost, and many who have killed themselves may not have realized just how ingrained their life is inside of others' lives. I chose not to kill myself because I was slightly more afraid of death than I was of my life, and I can say that my life has improved not because it has become any less insufferable, but because I've simply learned how to deal with it. As for the terminally ill committing suicide, I believe that it should be their choice to kill themselves or not, and I see no reason why the incapable can't give consent for another to do it for them. However, I also believe that some of them may be overlooking potential days of happiness, and that not all terminal conditions mean complete misery until the grim stops by for tea.

This is an age old question really. My view maybe fucked up but it works in my mind.

If your gonna do it just do it and do it right. If you think your life went to hell or fucked up your life to consider doing it you may as well get one thing right before you go.
Now after just saying that I'm going to say that i have thought of this before and do have a plan(s) on how to go, HOWEVER their are very specific conditions to each that must be meet for this to be even considered.
Outside of those condition i will live on for my family and my pride.

I would say suicide is basically selfish. You tell yourself fuck my life imma end it. You end only causing pain to people around you. If your life sucks at some point, get over it. Because after the dark tunnel, there is always light (yes i know, very melodramatic) but seriously, if you can pick yourself up after wanting to commit suicide, life will get better. it usually does.

As for euthanasia, im for it. but only in extreme cases where there is no way of saving the life, being forced to survive by being hooked up to machines breathing for you.

Eh I meet some people that actually say they'll kill themselves but when I tell them to go ahead they just continues blabbering bullshit. Then I'll rub it in their face and they'll get mad. If someone dies then yeah then they do. It is heartbreaking (to me that is) but like others say, it's a way of life. No one is going to live for ever. But yeah if someone choices to die and they want to then we have no say in the matter. It's their life, not yours not their moms...well...their mom gave them life but that's different. I say if they choose to commit suicide then hey, go for it. Don't wanna sound like an ass but they have their reasons. Some might be stupid and uncalled for but everyone has been through their own hell so...yeah. Everyone is different.

This had me thinking: If your going to kill yourself, why not do something epic at the same time? (I know this may sound awfully bad but oh well)

Take this into consideration, your mad hate life ect. ect. Why not make some noise and jump off the Eiffel tower? You might get on the local news or something, and you get to do something no one else has ever done before.

I get that when your suicidal you probably don't care anymore about doing awesome shit but if I were going to kill myself I would do something crazy life try to human grenade myself onto the new years ball or drive a car off a waterfall.

This thread is only one of the many suicide threads. Clearly, if you really want to do it then just do it. You are just one of those who's lacking of attention from others, admit it.

no, that's not considered suicide because they weren't jumping to die. in their desperation to live, jumping from a burning, collapsing high-rise seemed like a better option. and i gotta say, who'd blame them for doing it?

ot: per my religion, suicide is a big no-no so i'm obligatedd to say that it's not alright and that the sad person that offed them self is gonna spend an eternity of misery in hell(i'm not trying to start some religious shit, i'm just stating my stance on the matter). and while that is infinitely worse than anything that can happen to a person during their life, i can understand the feeling of complete, utter hopelessness that someone who committed suicide might have felt.

mind you, i'm not saying that i've felt that way, i'm just saying i could understand what might have drove someone to suicide.

it just sucks that the warning signs of of a depressed or suicidal person aren't that well recognized or, in some cases, just flat out ignored. it would probably save a couple of folks.

Actually, lots of people have jumped to their deaths from the Eiffel Tower, so the people that work there are actually trained to look-out for people acting suspiciously.

I believe people should have the choice of committing suicide. I don't think people are cowards at all for doing it. I agree with many of the pro suicide posts here.

I personally wouldn't commit suicide right now because of my little brother and my boyfriend as well as the student debts my parents would inherit. I believe those are the only reasons. I have not found happiness in enough aspects of my life to actually want to live but I care about the people I love to where I don't consider my life mine anymore. My life would only be mine if my little brother could cope with my death and was financially independent and had an good alternate support system, if I was unmarried, without children, and/or without such a devoted, caring boyfriend, and if I didn't have any debt that would be passed to someone else I care for. I would commit suicide if all this criteria were met and I still could not find any happiness by myself.

For many people, this is the case. Even if suicide would still very much hurt the ones you love beyond repair, people who are depressed and suicidal just can't go on despite that. It's not a "Fuck you" to them it's a "Please, make it stop...". If no one can help them with that, they feel suicide is the only way since they can't help themselves.

For those of you who cannot understand the concept of not being able to help yourself, imagine being pushed into the ocean without being able to swim (let's assume you're not an infant with the natural ability to start paddling).

Go on a journey , it doesn't matter where.

Keep on journeying until you discover something unusual.

I thought of suicide as well in my teenage days, but it's ok to think that way since there are times when you feel like nothing is going right. Sure some people committed suicide and I feel extremely sorry for them since a friend of mine committed it as well, but you have to realize, there is ALWAYS someone there for you. I know these people who committed them haven't realized that at all, but I hope all you Fakku-ers know that nobody is alone.

So if somebody wants to commit suicide then let me tell you this, have you ever saw the brightest part in your life before you saw the darkest? If not then how can you know if life is going bad for you? Have you ever questioned yourself , "what if there IS love and friendship?"

Suicide is just an attempt to avoid seeing the bright part of life, it's giving up at times where you need to be at strongest. I know there is a lot of weak people in the world, but let me tell you this, there is always a lending hand, just gotta keep on walking until you find that hand.

I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to commit suicide, but if I were to say, discover that I only had so many hours or days to live, I'd probably live those last moments of my life rather recklessly.

I do feel that suicide, that is, the act of killing yourself to relieve some kind of stress or pain you are unable to deal with, is selfish. I however don't see the problem of being selfish.

I find those who attempt or accomplish suicide to be weak. Those who can't manage living are better off dead. It is natural selection at its finest.

I believe that suicide should be permitted; why should we stop the process of the weak eradicating themselves from society? In nature, animals at the low end of the pecking order die off, and there is nothing to stop that from happening.

People these days think that if nothing goes the way they want to then just end it. I know 4 people that did it, all in rather gruesome ways. People say that it's your body and all that other stuff but when it's all said and done, I bet you will think differently. I've heard all the reasons, all of which are temporary and can be settled with a bit of help from others (counselling) but, for some reason people still turn to suicide. It's not fair for anyone, suicide affects more people then it helps. Family, friends, and/or others can get quite hurt by it, I've seen relatively happy families get torn apart by a suicide. Suicide is the most selfish thing you can do, not only you are showing no consideration for yourself, but for others.

The problems of today will not be around forever, so live it, what can hurt you can only make you stronger.

Any of those doctors or hospitals against euthanasia are just against it because as long as the patient is alive, they keep getting money shoveled down their gullets >.>

I wonder... would the people who want to kill themselves be a loss to us if they are so weak? Idk, I think there is use to some people who are stuck in a rut. I think suicide effects all sorts of people, I don't think those who are suicidal have one single deficient trait about them such as selfishness or lack of motivation. I think they're just very sad. I also think that some problems can't be gotten over so easily. The stress coping resources in these people don't necessarily have to be low, they could just be under a lot of stress or interpret situations differently where they may feel more emotionally effected. The latter doesn't mean they're weaker. It means they're more sensitive.

I value sensitivity. That I live for.

I have to agree and add on to this. It seems that people pity those who commit suicide, as if something terrible has happened to them. I don't pity them, because it was their choice to take their own life. Yes, yes, death is a bad thing, but only if you let it be. It can either be the ultimate end or the beginning of something new, depending on how you look at it. Death doesn't scare me, and I don't feel pity for those who die. Sometimes I think it might be preferable to dealing with some of the people on this planet.

I agree. Myself I'm in such a situation. Right now I have nothing to look forward to. I'll end my studies, so I can get a job, so I can feed, and provide myself some shelter. All else looks trivial to me. But hey, I still keep going, maybe something will come up.
