It has always been an interesting concept to me. i've thought alot about the subject. i have some expieriance with it. two people i knew, and a few relatives of people i knew commited suicide. i was raised catholic, and to them suicide is a sin and keeps you from heaven. in many places it's a crime. some people say suicide is selfish, but three people i knew who had relatives who commited suicide were the most self centered people i've ever met. so much so that i could see suicide as preferable to having to live with them*. they acted like the motivation was just to hurt them. in japan, i believe, life insurance still pays off, but in the US suicide means fuck your survivors. even euthinasia or assisted suicide is a crime in many places. some places allow the terminaly ill to commit suicide, but no one can do it for them. so you better plan way ahead, because if your illness disables you, fuck you, suffer chump.
this episode of FRONTLINE is about suicide tourists. i'm not suicidal or anything, but if i ever have a terminal disease that will result in much suffering, and/or excessive medical costs, i'm takin a dive.
most people won't even talk about suicide, so i often wonder how people realy feel about it.
