The higher power

What do you believe the higher power is? personally I believe in the Tao. If there is a God then he could be one who knows the Tao more than any mortal. I believe in Mana, the life force energy that flows through the entire whole of creation. I believe that all living things have Mana and even non living things are created through the Tao. I believe that Mana is the spiritual representation of the Tao since the Tao cannot be compared to things physical, spiritual, or otherwise. I believe that all things come from the Tao and will eventually return to the Tao.

I believe in no higher power, just the mechanics of the universe.

does that mean you are an athiest? or does that mean you believe in how the universe works? I believe that the universe is held together by the Tao. An energy field. invisible, undetectable, infinite in it's power, mass, and influence. It is both the smallest thing in existence and the largest thing in existence. one giant, ever flowing stream of energy that allows reality to be. Time, Space, dimension, all of it is there because of the Tao. That's what I believe

I am, in fact, an atheist. I believe that the universe works more or less based on random chance and physics and whatnot.

Science is science, and higher power is higher power, cross the two, you find your higher power shrinking with ever advancement of science and thus find the two conflicting. I feel man is flawed and cannot make any definition of a higher power without causing it to reflect the needs of man and the religion, thus tainting it. I am an Agnostic Theist, I believe in a higher power, but I do not define it beyond that it is there and can have an affect and a balance of spiritual matters.

Naturally this causes everyone who is Religious to call me an Atheist, when this is just not true. Just because I disagree with nearly all religions as well as Atheists in some way, doesn't make me be against them. I respect them, probably more than most with opposing views. I view things a bit differently, and because this is like everyone else, it kinda just strengthens my view because I believe that everyone can't be wrong, and what makes them so against each other are those basic definitions of their higher power or lack there of. But somehow we are still very similar.

I am conviced that there must be some sort of infinite being which is the cause of the universe, primarily due to Thomas Aquinas's argument reguarding The Unmoved Mover.

All things in our universe are created things. Everything that exists in our universe is created and finite, meaning that there was a point in time in which that thing did not exist and that there will be a point in time which that thing will not exist. And nothing which is created can have been created by itself, which means it has to have been created by something other than itself. Every bowl has to have been created by a craftsman, every human has to have been created by a set of parents.

Since no created thing can have been created by itself, the only way the first created finite thing (which set off the chain reaction of the universe) could have been created is by an uncreatred infinite thing, which we commonly know as God or The Higher Power as the OP put it.

This does not mean that the God as the judeo-christians think it of exists, but in the philosophical sense I don't know how our finite universe could have come into existence without having been moved by an unmoved mover.

I believe in a creator(God), but I do not believe that he is involved at all with humans and religion is man made.

Joking aside, I'm actually atheist. Though, around certain people I act like I'm a Christian. The world can be hard to atheist at times, even my parents think I'm Christian.

But what I believe is facts and proof.

Agnostic Theist, so I'm down with a higher power, just not the ways religion seems to deem fit. If anything I'm more inclined n the ideal of either God being the universe itself, or a being who does nothing to interfere with our lives.

Agnostic Theist. That's the kind of thing I can respect. Believing in a higher power but not devoting yourself to specific idea's of what the higher power is or what religion has the proper view of said higher power.

I believe God is a massive consciousness that is made up of the consciousnesses of everyone/everything that has ever lived. Rather, I believe that God is the whole, and we are all the parts. Yes, I believe we are all tiny fragments of God. These tiny fragments are what is known as the 'soul'.

For me.. I disagree with the idea that you can either be a worldly person that utilizes common sense and need evidence for claims, or be a complete ignoramus that believes anything without proof.

This isn't the case. I believe that people should simply separate the two [Science and Faith]. Science should be used to explain the physical. Faith should be used to explain the internal matters of spirituality.

This thread has made me think things I never thought I could think of before. Thank you informative people. One of the reasons I like Daoism/Taoism is the saying they have. They are so very wise and insightful.

And so far, what my religion has states about God and His creation has been proven by science, and the weird thing is my "holy" book has been written around 1400 years back when science is not as developed as nowadays, and its creation has only been proven by science by the past 100 years (I think).

But honestly, I'm not really a religious person, but I do believe in God.

I believe that, considering the complexity of things and how they will probably eternally be out of our sphere of comprehension, that there is a component in this reality that is called magic.

A power above all other rules of time and space, that can bend them to its will.

In short, the universe got bored of justifying how it worked just to satisfy its inhabitants, and told them to fuck off.

And yes, that implies that the universe is sentient, meaning that it "communicates" with itself through stars, galaxies and void, through how everything and nothing interact together, creating a constant state of cause and effect that ends up into something coming into existence.

So yeah, magic.

You are an Agnostic Theist, IE you question Religion but not God. There's a lot of Christians out there that when you state against their religion in any way, they will bite back. They don't like it when things that they have trouble arguing is pointed out to them. There are a few relaxed Christian Churches out there, like Unitarian if you ever need them, not that I do. Anyway, good luck finding your own way.

The idea to believe there is a God ( Creator ) but doesn't believe in Religions that leads to the creator .... seems legit.
