The higher power

Wow. I never expected this thread to get so in depth. It's good to know there are people with this level and type of thinking. I May just show this thread to my therapist to use in our next appointment. As far as higher powers go I am Daoist but to be more in depth I would have to say im more of a pseudo-Chrisian Daoist. I believe there is a God, but he is not all knowing or omnipotent. I believe that he must be one who can channel the Dao better than any other being. The Dao is still the highest power.

what I said up that I'm not going to involve in a scientific discussion because my English language is poor when it comes to science , because I'm afraid that I would embarrass myself ( which I actually did )

I tried looking for evidence in the english language but I failed
I tried to understand the whole picture and what is difference between adaptation
and evolution and i failed because they are very similar
I have reading a lot of argument with and against this theory and what happens , neither one of them make any logic to me
most of the time what happens on the genetic level is mysterious , which made it more confusing

I posted the link above , reading the first and the second paragraph ,thinking that the essay was discussing a mysterious case in the evolution theory , and after completing it I didn't know what the hell the essay was talking about

all of the animals , plants has changed , I admit with that , but what I doesn't understand is how , when , why the genes changed , and why it's keep changing and why the DNA and RNA accepting these changes knowing the fact that most of the genetic changes causes an error , which I didn't understand at all !!!

the evolution theory is not fascinating , it's confusing , try read more about it and your head might explode .

I was wondering if there was a coined term for believing in a higher power but not being restricted by religion. Glad to know there is.

I do wish however that suppose earth (or humanity) was supposed to be on a proper path and being on that path lead to a great change in the world which would affect everything that does/doesn't exist thus evolving our world into one of magic and monsters ideally like Final Fantasy.

I think that all existance is just one big.... river-like tihng, and everyone and everything in it just... you floats along, and when you reach your branch-off, you leave the main river-tihng and just floats along to the next river of... existence. Or something.

If you're not religious, you're not a christian. As I've said many times before; I can respect the belief in a God, but I cannot respect the belief in a religion. That doesn't mean that believing in a God is rational; one should believe in nothing, rather than believing in something just to believe. In other words, remain ignorant until proof has been given to you. Being ignorant isn't necessarily something bad, as long as there isn't a valid alternative.

Not true. One can be a Christian without having to follow every single practice. I just don't go to church much, if at all. I don't pray everyday, but I pray from time to time. You don't have to be a devout Christian to BE a Christian.

Christianity itself has been morphed by posers who are racist or sexist or whatever the case may be to justify their hate, or by the media. Like the "God hates fags" or "God hates this or that". All of that is entirely not true, if one ever actually opened a Bible and started reading it, they would know all of that is completely false. It's really quite sad what it has been made out to be.

What purpose is there to be christian if the god you praise will send you to hell anyway ?

Pretty much. I'm a Christian, but I hate when religion is forced on other people.

Does it say anything about God hating them however? No it does not. God loves each and everyone of us. It stated multiple times in the Bible. But those who do not listen to his word will not receive eternal happiness in Heaven.

It is possible for even homosexuals to enter heaven, if they pray to God and ask for the forgiveness of their sins. That was proven by a homosexual Christian btw.

It's hate the sin, not the sinner, which is also a lesson taught in Christianity. And that's one of the rules I live by. I don't support or like homosexuality, but I don't hate homosexuals. They have the right to choose whatever they want to do, so does everyone else. God gives people the choice of what they want to do. It's in our hands if we want to walk with him or not. God will still love you no matter what.

Real Christians do not hate or are mean to others who have a different view than they do. It's our duty to spread the word of God, not to force people to think the way we do. It's up to the person whether they want to believe in it or not.

everything in the bible is believed to be what god said so if it's writen in it that homosexuality is a sin and they should be killed for it then it mean that it is what god think abouth homosexuality .

You even admit it here that what you believe is not what is true but what you want to believe . You're not a christian , for that you need to believe in what the bible says . You are just one of these guy that is intelligent enough to understand that the bible is bullshit but still can't live without god so what you do is change the religion to fit what you think is right which take away all of your religion credibility ...

By my beliefs, there is not a higher power, but infinite higher powers of all shape and scope. Going by the laws of infinity, then technically every instance of every chance and event occurs infinite times, and so theoretically, a Christian God-like entity not only exists, it exists infinite times individually. I do not believe that such a thing exists "above us" per-se, in that it watches or guides us, but I do believe that it exists somewhere beyond our level of comprehension or understanding. The same goes for any other entity you can think of. For all I care, there are infinite instances of an omnipotent flying spaghetti monster in all of existence. Ultimately however, I choose not to dwell on it, because lets be honest, will we ever know? The mere definition of an infinite existence means that no matter how far we go into understanding everything, there will always be more to try and comprehend. A never-ending tower of laws and existences that we can always continue to climb, but will never succeed in reaching the top of.

I disagree with you here. ToddTheAwesome shows no sign of intelligence worthy of mentioning. One does not need religion to believe in a God; he's probably indoctrinated and lacks enough critical thinking to think rationally, or he may just need to identify himself with the religion due to personal reasons. Either way, he's stupid.

He never said he don't know in what he believe in , he just said that he believe in a higher power , he don't call "it" higher power like it was a thing or someone , he called it "a" higher power which does not need to be something specific . It is just an answer to the unknown and the greatness of the universe .

This is quite ridiculous. If he doesn't know what a higher power is he can't possibly believe in it, as there is nothing to believe in. If he can't specify his own belief, his belief is pointless.



I'll have to emphasize this quote of yours because it's quite laughably stupid. Do you actually consider "I believe in a higher power, but not one specifically." to be a reasonable answer to the unknown within the universe? That's stupid, utterly stupid.

I merely state the obvious; if someone brings out a stupid argument I do call that person stupid, because that's the implication. Just as I call you stupid.
