I don't think this thread is about accusing US-Americans of actually being like the stereotypes portray them but just about naming these stereotypes and analyzing them....
This thread (and others like it) should be about naming the stereotypes so that people can come and say what the truth is. So, if someone comes along and says, "I think all Americans are fat," people could reply, "A lot of them are fat, but that's due to . . . "
Otherwise, it turns into a sort of trollfest.
Honestly, as an American, my view on Americans is . . . that we're crazy as all hell. Not every individual, just as a whole. To use a bit of a comedian's routine (don't remember the guy's name though), it's like if a man walks down the street in drag, wearing a tight blue dress and a fur coat. Some people will yell, "Pervert!" while others will yell, "Fur is murder!" That's America.
