I'm right there with ya, all the same reasons pretty much and I've been studying online. xD My only issue is I haven't made tremendous progress, and am pretty shy when it comes to talking to native speakers so a lot of the really good sites don't help all that much >.

I remember Namasensei, didn't complete his lessons though because I got too bogged down at school, since I've finally got some free time lately I guess I'll try to get caught back up again. Btw would it be worth it to get rosseta stone to learn or is namasensei and a few dictionaries enough to learn?

If I was to learn japanese I'd dodge everything anime/'otaku culture' related as much as possible, otherwise someone might punch me in the face the moment I left the japanese airport and opened my mouth. Desu.

Regarding those 'reasons', to each his own I guess. I'm going to learn german so I can start drinking beer better.

Just rewatched a few of his videos and MAN I wish my high school teachers would have taught like him, would've made school a LOT more interesting..... maybe I wouldn't have flunked English twice XD. ADD isn't too good to have in a classroom at 7am

To stay on topic about learning Japanese, if you have an Android phone, I highly recommend Human Japanese. Very effective.

It's pretty much a universal language learning website that helps beginners by providng many different kinds of learning tools and even the website offering help with the said language itself.

There's also Nihongo~(But you have to pay)
And Smartfm is a really good place too for learning the japanese language. ^^ Hope this helps~! ^_^

Could always try out japaneseclass.jp I used them awhile back to learn my Hiragana and Katakana they're ok if you do that much but never made an account with them due to my lack of trust with "free websites" + "my email"

but then again I'm a paraniod guy who grew up hearing stories from my parents that the internet is a terrible place that'll hack your computer if you tell one person your name or go onto a site that has anything to do with sex.... (waits a bit) ... nope nada haha I'm on a porn forum

The site also has vocab other tests plus an exp system, my friend is rank 3 or something but I don't really care for that, he says that its free but I'm gonna finish writting down my mother f***ing characters in my f***ing notebook before I try them.. I've forgotten too much in the past year ._.

I live in the UK. I have absolutely zero reason to learn Japanese. It's all about necessity.

Learning the Japanese language gives you many benefits:

*Play VN games easier - weeaboo
*No more waiting for translation patches. - weeaboo. 75% of everything they say in porn is, "YES, HARDER,SAY MY FIRST NAME, COMMING, I'M ALMOST THERE, I LOVE YOU, AHHH, OHH, NOT SO ROUGH, IT'S MY FIRST TIME ETC ETC" The rest is unnecessary.
