Wondering About Virginity

Just wanted to add that your "active sex life" part should be more precise. I don't think anyone would consider a girl who has an active sex life with just that one person she's going out with( or whatevs ) to be a whore. It's just people who sleep around that are sluts, and I personally never hesitate calling a guy a slut too if he goes around having sex with anything that has a hole.

But you're still right, because when I call a man a slut I'm always 75% joking, but when it's a girl I kind of really feel what I'm saying. It's society-induced for the most part, but there's also the fact that I always put male and female sexuality in two completely different boxes.

I feel like, the woman, being one who takes something inside herself, should be way more wary of what she does. Like their relation to sex should be something more profound than with us guys.
But at the end of the day I really don't know, so whenever I feel like a girl is being a slut I just shut up, and if I'm asked about my opinion I say "I don't know, I don't have a vagina and it's her body, period".

Only exceptions are true hardcore sluts(male and female) who almost seem to live for that. After all, it's the definition of a slut, I don't get mad at people calling me a virgin( still the truth ), or a no-life, or a geek( wrongly, since I'm not very knowledgeable in geeky stuff, I just really like them ) or an otaku( I actually like being called that one )

Then would you say someone who is a virgin but does not take care of her physical or mental health, in the least, has more value over their life than a person who does take care of both but has sex with guys/girls they've been in a committed relationship with? If it wasn't for finding and having a "committed relationship" I would have been the former. (I'm mostly the later now though... Health part could use improvements.) Being with someone You believe is good, safe, and sincere means they care less than someone who just never had the opportunity to have or simply hates the idea of? Or even worst, marries someone they are not sexually compatible with (I found this incredibly important (half the relationship) in my experience).

I'm not saying, choosing your first partner is not important, but that, the importance of choosing never diminishes. That having or not, does not mean you care any less for yourself than the next person. The one who indiscriminately chooses is the one who doesn't care. Virginity only value is proof of "lack of sexual experience" nothing more, nothing less. No deeper meaning. (I'll add a IMO, just in case.)

Pardon me if I caused a misunderstanding. What I meant by "value" is not the value of life; life itself is sacred and invaluable. I meant that value as a measure of how much dignity you have towards your own, physical body. I do understand the pleasurable aspect of sex and acknowledge that you're free to choose whoever you want to sleep with. I acknowledge too that there are some who regard virginity as a sanctity and those who regard it as hogwash. But as you said, "the importance of choosing never diminishes". There are obvious differences between a virgin who stays one, another who willingly gives it up to his/her loved one, and the third who sells it willingly. In the second case, the act of giving up is symbolic of trust between one and one's partner. As for the third case..I don't have to elaborate, yes?

Life is not sacred, life is not even valuable. And who said life is sacred? God? Cause god is still the leading cause of death and has been for thousands of hears. Muslims, christians, hindus, all killin each other cause they don't believe in the right god. Plus if life is sacred, how come we haven't heard form JFK, or Jesus in quite some time. Don't you think it is highly bias for the living to claim that living is sacred without knowledge of the other side. Maybe death is sacred, in some cultures it is.

It's all made up, and it's all bullshit. It's only what you make it out to be and has absolutely no meaning to anyone else.

Its what happens in that life that matters. Every life and what not is sacred or valuable because of what people do. Some of its bad but some of its awesome. To the point of helping out all of humanity and meaning something. Something that can make the next life even better.

As far as am concerned, before reading this, i (a virgin) really don't value virginity. Maybe cause of all the social astigmatism, my first girl i gave my heart just chuck me back into the friend zone or am just being logical. But to me, virginity is nothing unless your very religious or have too much moral standards. I can understand the logic's of waiting for the right one and i do agree our media makes it look like it something to just give away. But the point it just a waste of time, to put labels on people, whether good or bad. It's our life, we live it how we want to. So if you value it, that good...just don't go over board and judge people for not being 'a virgin' or label them. If your not, that's also good...just don't be unkind people and mock the others who haven't had that moment. All that matter is who that person is on the inside and if your luck to have a good first time, cherish it. Me, i use to care, but i think am aim to be a sage now , cause it just too crazy out there and too many girls in my area that just giving it away for the wrong reasons....it's sad, but that's life.

I don't believe that you should just hand it out to anyone, but don't cherish it to the highest power. Virginity can only be broke once, but don't act like it's the most important thing in life, just try to make sure it's with someone you trust and not some lame asshole.

Never given the v-card much importance in my head... it's just a thing that people choose to care about or not. So yah, I don't think it's THAT important.

The reason you went, "Oh man, and she's a virgin too," is probably because not only is this character being subjected to a horrifying experience, she has no experience and is not prepared in any way whatsoever. It's similar to what makes slasher films frightening. The protagonists are everymen who have no combat experience. A movies called Jason vs. The Expendables wouldn't be nearly as scary because Stallone, Statham, Li and the rest would be more than a match for one freak with a machete (probably).

Don't mean to sound rude, but did you not read my whole post? It isn't that long and I just wrote it and I think it's pretty nice if I do say so myself but I'll tell you why it should affect you again. Being a virgin tells you that she is inexperienced and completely unprepared. Were the character a slutty sex freak, it probably wouldn't have bothered you as much. Similar to how horror movies use an untrained everyman as a protagonist and not a super soldier like Rambo. Or Barney (not the purple dinosaur who was rumored to be a black guy (and now you're probably like, "Why the hell is that a rumor and why does it matter?" (that he could've been black and with respect to this topic)))

in my opinion do value virginity for 2 reasons mainly since I still am a virgin I value it because it is to my beliefs that a virgin should lose their virginity to another virgin 2ndly I value loyalty and dedication and while it may not necessarily be highly accurate for all women I belive that anyone that is willing to endure pain and bleed for me is highly dedicated so to my own personal view its a requirement for first time relationships 2nd or 3rd (in unfortunate cases the first doesn't work out) I don't think id be as strict on virginity more of a preferred but not required type view

Virginity was never something that was important to me. I grew up nonreligious with rather liberal parents who's only rule was "don't get pregnant, date a teacher/boss or catch an incurable disease." Until I started reading hentai I never thought anything about it. Post reading hentai, there was such a fascination with virginity in these pages that I was terrified if I gave it up I'd become totally unattractive and never be able to get married. I'm not even kidding. Religion didn't have that affect on me, hentai did.

My poor husband (boyfriend back then) put up with the no sexual contact rule for 4 years despite the fact that he KNEW I read "anime porn" regularly. I thank him everyday for being so patient with me. It's really given me a lot of confidence to have his support. Just by avoiding pressuring me and waiting until I was ready, he really cemented my trust in him. I trust him with everything, except preforming surgery on me.

Now that I know better, I really could care less. If anything, virginity was a HUGE inconvenience for me and made anything sexual really guilt ridden. Once I lost it, I was like "oh, that didn't feel like any big change at all...."

I will say this though, I would have been devastated had I given it up to the wrong guy because hentai made me value it so much it really unhealthy. I don't think I would have handled it well.

I grew up in a house where talking about sex is just like talking about puppies with parents who have absolutely no qualms about touching each other so long as they are inside the house...
They did give me and my siblings detailed lessons about STDs, proper etiquette, pregnancy, how the first time hurts and "how to do it right"
The only thing that made me scared to lose it was my mother's lessons concerning how it hurts and how it might bleed. Hurt and bleed didn't really make a good sound to me...

Hence, my view about virginity can be summarized in one scene that I saw in Big Bang Theory...
