There needs to be some leftover to repopulate. As for the topic, I'm not against the DP. It should certainly be used for those that deserve death. Life sentences are too light on those scumbags that treat other lives as toys for their amusement or as stepping stools to reach the top.

Wrong. The population is not the problem here. The planet is not at it's carrying capacity... yet. The "population" itself is not what's doing the damage right now.

To sum up my opinion, I think the death penalty is a good punishment but only in theory - in reality the legal system is not foolproof enough to allow such severe punishment.
What I do, however, still think should be allowed and which isn't allowed in Belgium is locking up criminals for the rest of their life. (A lifetime imprisonment in Belgium is in fact only 30 years.)

I agree entirely with this. If you take into account all the trials and everything, there are numbers that say that the cost of killing someone is higher than the cost of keeping them alive.

Side-note: Sentences in Sweden are ridiculous. Murder = gets you a couple of years in prison. Rape = around 2 years. Assault = around 1 year depending on how serious of a case it was. But, embezzlement and other economy based crimes are way harder - a serious embezzlement catches you a few years, up to 10, in addition to huge fines. Tch.

I'm all for the death penalty for a number of reasons. But it does contradict the rights that we as a people have.But when you violate someone's else right to life I just don't think you deserve to keep yours. This is my opinion for those who are guilty without a doubt of committing the crime. Now if you killed to protect yours or the rights of others...Then,I couldn't say.
