Shuffle! - English Version Added!

from what read on their forums, it seems that they dont have the budget for better tranlsations nor to implement proper translation procedures.. something along those lines

Ok... this is what i can gather from browsing and talking on their forum.
well, MG is a very small company, they dont even sell physical games... all their stuff is download only with DRM, which is easily cracked.
apparently the one staff member that actually knows english well, only has a little time to look over the final script and edit what she can before they send it to the ghetto editors and finalize it... and its thousands of lines of script... and thats not her only job either... so its to be expected that tons of mistakes slip through. plus, one of the main reasons, at least to me to buy legit, is the physical merchandise you get, having the box with the manual and disk shows that you support the people who make the games, not having that... is like paying for an exact thing that you could get jacked for free, its like paying the price of a real Rolex watch for a Folex(cheapo fake Rolex) when you already know its a Folex.
i dunno... i initially thought MG was going to be a great company to get games from... the more i delve into it, the less i like them... they charge allot for their games, which arent even physical, they dont sell disks, and the level of quality for translation is sketchy as well, with spelling, grammar and consistency errors galore. I know that JAST USA has been around for allot longer then MG, but i dont see MG as much of a competitor at all at the rate they are going...

Well it isn't like they have a choice, this is the only way they can make a buck. If they distribute disk, then that will add more to the cost of the game. And people complain if the game cost go up. And while Shuffle is a wonderful game in my opinion, it isn't a very well known one. Only so many people are going to want it.
If mangagamer does well with this, I bet they'll expand to disc and more well known titles, but I'm just glad someone is finally translating it.

Nope, not as well know as F/SN which came out around the same time. It did well, but then after a good release, it quitely fell out of the spotlight. It still is really loved though, and has a devoted fan base.
Thats why Shuffle has Tick Tack and Really? Really! and was made into an anime. But my point was mangagamer isn't that big of a company, and they are working on a somewhat older title. They have to charge this much to make money, and it seems like they don't have resources to put the game on disc.
If you want the disc some much why don't you write them and tell em?

1. Stop translating OLD, NOT WELL-KNOWN Eroge
2. Start TRAINING their translator
3. Fire the guy responsible of naming all That CORNY title.

I think another reason why only older titles get translated is that Japanese companies don't want they're new games they're selling for $100 in Japan coming out for half that price in America, as Japanese fans are sure to import the English version instead of buying the expensive Japanese original, regardless of if it's download only or not

dude... you are confusing things... Shuffle is extremely popular since it had a decently popular anime version released. and when was the last time Tick! Tack! or Really? Really! had any adaptation? -__-
and yes, the issue has popped up on the forums, apparently they dont think they can turn a profit if they have physical media (they arent selling their titles very well, I suspect because of pricing)... and the DRM is a pain in the ass as well...

I'm waiting for the mangagamer translation at August 15. If the release is uncensored, it will be a good add-on for me.

I didn't notice that I made it sound like I said the two spinoff games were made into anime, I know they weren't - my mistake for mistyping :)

I didn't notice that I made it sound like I said the two spinoff games were made into anime, I know they weren't - my mistake for mistyping :)

For some odd reason I have a vague memory of playing a poorly translated version of Shuffle with a 3rd party translator, maybe it's just wishful thinking though.
To be honest, I would not feel bad paying the listed price for these games on mangagamer, and will be ordering my copy upon it's release. Eventually we will all have to face the fact that we are an EXTREMELY niche market, and should be extremely happy with all fan-translated titles, and officially translated titles.
I will agree that it would be in their benefit to translate newer titles, as it is very apparent which games will or will not market well outside of Japan. I do believe there is still room to translate older well known games; I do agree this should not be the driving force of their market share.
I however agree with their policy of downloading copies of the game rather than releasing games in box format. No matter what all games will be subject to piracy with or without DRM, so DRM becomes a non-topic; actual physical copies of the game would no doubt drive the prices up with manufacturing/distribution as pointed out by other members of the forum.
Sub-par translations are the worst enemy of small companies such as MG, and as Kaimax has already stated will need to be fixed promptly; we are a very fickle fan base and unfortunately bad publicity can very rarely be afforded.
Due to my new near obsession with Umineko, the truth of the following sentence shall be in red.
Perhaps there should be a brainstorm about a viable business model for eroge/VNs in the english market.

I remember seeing the Anime and later finding the game in Jap, I still played it because I could somewhat understand that level of Jap but it drove me nuts that both in the anime and the game the players name is Rin, everyone refers to Nerine as Rin and to Primula as Rim. Rin Rin Rim. It was so confusing ~_~
