The console wars

I totally agree about buying games in fact i've never bought a game for my 360 or PS3 except COD4 & Fable 2. Its a waste of money. I use to buy games for the PS2 but one day I realized the error of my ways. I gucess you could put me in the hardcore gamer category in that when I get a game I play it alot. I was paying $50 for a game that I was beating in 2 - 5 days after getting, then never playing again. From that day forward I now do nothing but rent games & beat them before I have to return them which saves me $55 sense current generation games are $59.99.

Renting is awesome and is really the best thing to do. I rented Kingdom Hearts 2 when it came out and spent a weekend beating it. A weekend! Boy, I was glad as hell I didn't buy it at full price.

Also, I once went into a GameTrader's and spent $50 buying four older games. And these were good games, like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Four old games for the price of one new game? Hell yeah!

Oh yeah, I love buying used games so I can attest to that statement.

Last time I went to EB Games, I bought Devil May Cry 3, Wave Race: Blue Storm and Pikmin for $30. Seriously, the games were like new and all. You can barely notice any differences.

My only pet-peeve is when they come without an instruction booklet. That's really annoying when you're trying to buy hard-to-find games like Pikmin 2 or Disgaea.

That can also really fuck you up if the game doesn't have a tutorial system or anything. I bought a Gundam game a while back, with no instruction manual, and it took me a good while to understand exactly what the hell I was doing, what features the game had, and so on.

I have winged many games before. Stumbling threw them before I know WTF is going on. Especially hard in RTS games for me at least.

About the current gen-war, Ps3 seems to have started to sell some consoles lately, getting past the 360 in japan and all.
Still in the shitter everywhere else though, but seeing as it's library is starting to get some real impressive titles i belive it won't be long until the sales jump start's somewhat.
It's still too pricy imo, atleast in sweden.

The live thing will be awesome. if it works like it is suppose to. tho I agree with Klown that controller looks very uncomfortable.


As for the current console war the PS3 is catching up and like Sony said you can expect it's time to shine in 2009 on onward. It has some very impressive titles coming up and it has been selling like mad in Japan. When Final Fantasy complete came out that boosted sells a it. The 360 mean while seems to really not give a shit about it's reliability and reputation what with the E74 error replacing the RROD. The PS3 will out last all the current consoles. The others will have to upgrade before the PS3 does.

Just want to add I also think that it is gay we don't get a FF13 demo with the Final fantasy complete bundle because of the 360. Because the 360 has no bluray and the FF13 demo is 5GBs they won't be releasing it for the US FF complete. Because that would be "unfair" to the 360 owners who would also want a copy.

While im sure it'll pass the 360 at some point it's still about 10 million systems behind it in overall sales, so it's gonna be awhile.
Im still sceptical that it'll pass the Wii, who's around 50 million systems sold at this point, but it's likely to be the system to die first this gen too.
The DS is rapestomping everything as usual with over a 100 million systems sold.

Im hoping to see some good stuff on this years E3 too, and not some embarissing crap like Sony's giant enemy crab (although it was lulz) or Nintendo's Wii music...whatever it was they were trying to do..

I guess it's Microsofts turn to make asses out of themselves this year and the circle will be complete.

The wii will definitely die first. It seriously needs a graphics upgrade and I would totoally be willing to get a wii then if it wasn't raped by it's limitations and developers could have some freedom with it. As I've said Microsoft needs to up it's production of the 360 cause that thing breaks down more often then windows millennium addition.


I have been hearing good things tho I highly doubt the rumored PSP2 or PS3 price cut will happen tho it would be badass if it did.




Pretty fucking big it seems so 360 owners can expect their copy of FF13 to come in a luch box with 5-10 disks.

Im 50/50 about the opinion that it will dies first at this point, although the graphics suck compared to the other systems it's got some awesome potential with it's motion-controls, if the developers utilize it right and create some sort of smash hit (like Wii sports) the Wii is gonna live for a long time still.
That it'll outlive the Ps3 i doubt though, but seeing as how the Gameboy advance(!) outsell'd the Ps3 at one point i'd say anything can happen.

I don't really care about the 360 problems, i own (or co-own) a 360 who hasn't had a single problem since it was bought at it's release.

The price is still the biggest reason that's holding the Ps3 back, so if Sony got something in their head they should cut the price even if just a little.

I really don't think that will happen. The casuals don't really care that much about the hardware limitations. ALl thye relaly want to do is swing the Wiimote like crazy.

Hell, even my 74 year old grandmother likes to play with my Wii. (okay, Nintendo seriously needs to change the name. That sounded dirty) Believe me, that console is not dying anytime soon. The Wii is probably gonna pull a PS2 and never stop selling.

Well I am willing to bet that the 360 will die first. You know why, cause Microsoft is going to turn out the next gen sooner or later and probably the first to do it. As for FF13... :D

The wii has an awful play time ratio. Something like 30 minutes. So it does absolutely nothing for even your average gamer let alone hardcore. If it doesn't stop sellling (which it will stop selling I'm sure) surely they will make another console that is more powerful. I know they want money cause they have beat the dead horse that is Mario, Zelda etc to the point it's ridiculous. I know it sells well but that doesn't mean they can't outsource to new stuff.



I am sure they will cut it some time this year before X-mas. If that will be announced at E3, I doubt it.

The "REAL" games on Wii does not have a play time ratio of 30 minutes no matter how you look at it, you're thinking about the party games or something now.
Games like Mad World (epic fuckin game) will have you hooked for many many hours.


There is a new Mario/Zelda title comming out like every five years (or one game per system if you will), and im talking about the real games in their respective franchises, not the spin-off stuff, so if we go by that they're not really milking the stuff.
The games usually turns out to be groundbreaking and innovative.

And that's why the casuals love the system. 30 minutes is good enough for them. People that buy the Wii are not looking for epic games like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid, which is a shame because it end ups hurting the core gamers big time.

I know they're probably gonna release a new console but I won't expect that to happen anytime soon.



Well, I kinda agree with Mario, but Zelda hasn't beaten to death like some people say. The last one was released in 2006 and there's not a new one coming anytime soon. Also, the games are still fun so why stop making them? They're one of the few things Wii core gamers have left anyways.

Along with that, they seriously need to bring back the PS2 compatibility. Seriously, it's annoying as hell having to connect my PS2 every time I want to play my old games.
