Fate RP discussion thread.

Rise, as a better GM than you, stop being a dick. Your players can play in more games than just yours. They aren't your property. You don't have any right to tell people whose games they can and can't play and trying to control them in that way is just so fucking pitiful. Are you really that worried people will see other people GM and realize the things that you suck at? Or is it that you think you're little clique is somehow superior to others? Because, I've seen what passes for a post in your games and... well, there's a reason I don't play RPs here.

Actually I RP plenty (well less than I like, more than not at all). Even starting one up elsewhere. I just don't RP here for certain reasons [size=2]*coughnoqualitycontrolcough*[/h]. I tend to always take Rise's (and other's) positions on RP related stuff seriously as someone who tends to end up giving advise on these sorts of things.

And also, i can't fault Rise on this matter. We had this RP planned for more than a month now and then some fellow just comes in with a Fate RP with an statement that just reeks of a challenge. It's like Microsoft just launch vista and Apple just had to be an asshole as release Mac VISTA 1.1 the next day.

Well, of course I remember you, being active when you were slightly. I appreciated that and assumed you just had a fallout like any other person.

In regards to your statement above, however, I will make this comment on it: There is quality control on the RPs themselves, which is why RPs here with more detailed introductory posts are the more successful ones. However, all of that quality control is decided by the individual GMs of individual RPs. There is no RP council of esteemed gentlemen, as cool as that sounds. The success of the RPs is up to the GMs and the success of the RPing community is up to individual users.

I'll just say that this is not a section. There is, as of yet, no RPing section so officially there are no all encompassing RPing rules for RPs on Fakku besides what the GM of an individual RP decides upon with the support of this small community. That is another reason why quality cannot be demanded from the posters because quality posters are too few and some need more experience to become better, at English or otherwise, and who are we to refuse them if they honestly try despite their quality? That's assuming you were talking about quality control with the participants, though, which you may not have. However, the RPs that are successful will speak for themselves.

I try not to take dramatic sides, but I stand by the fact that action is what decides what happens. Rise is a GM because he has created RPs and they've been successful. Yes, successful. He has people wanting to participate because he's been successful. Definitions of successful can differ, but I'm only saying it because they're active and have been for a while. If you disagree with the quality control, then make an RP and set a precedent to change it. You just might be successful.

About Kiyomin's Fate RP, if it becomes successful, then that's just how it'll be. Rise, you cannot blame him or any of his participants if it does become successful because you simply took and are taking too long with this. If you never mentioned any of this publicly, maybe this would have not happened, or maybe it would have anyway. However, that is sometimes the price you pay for getting people hyped up and not doing much about it (referencing your "sooner or later" comment). First come, first served, in this case. Additionally, if you choose to not accept those that participate in his, you will be the only one losing in that case because you will miss out on RPers that may be good quality writers.

Now, let's all listen to reason (continue to do so if you already are) and address this issue...like gentlemen.

I actually read through around 70-80% of that manual; the damage calcs for the skills and stuff in there are what I skipped. I never experienced a DND sort of RP, so yeah. Those parts went over my head. Overall though, it was a pretty interesting read. And WHY U NO ANSWER my question I posted to you: how the hell did you find that?



I think it's more like "how the hell do you communicate with a Berserker servant when they're under Mad Enhancement which makes them able to communicate as well as a newborn child". Personality means shit under Mad Enhancement.

I think that would be particularly hard/easy to RP with, depending on one's approach.

Oh, that's cool. Well, then check it out. If you're a fan of action/battle mangas/animes, then Fate will be fun for you (probably). Of course, read the visual novel, NOT THE ANIME OR MANGA. God, those were pretty bad, compared to the VN.

Anyways, the visual novel has a bunch of text, so if you're the sort of person that can't be bothered with words (I highly doubt it; you don't seem like that sort of guy/girl), don't read it. However, if you don't mind text, check it out. The overall plot is pretty solid and has likeable characters and yeah. It's pretty great.

I beg to differ on that. From your statement, it sounded like he/she was going to being a douchebag about it; however, it just seems that the guy has different tastes about the Fate roleplay.



I agree with Xenon on this. Now that I look at the first date on this, it has been officially 19 days since you first announced this. 19 DAYS! And sure, you could have been busy/gathering information/other stuff, but really (it's also winter break in some areas). If that was going to happen, you could have simply waited to get the information/stuff/other stuff done, THEN announce it.

Just my two cents.

I'll retain my pacifist attitude. Can't we all just get along? Are they really so similar? Maybe you want a certain servant in this RP and a different one in that one. This isn't Highlander, there can be more than one.

@HiroyukiShota: Lol, I hadn't intended to be here or not be here in an official state at all. Though in this thread? Probably about as long as people keep going "Hey a wild Ramsus appeared!" (I note that while I may not be interested in keeping tabs with the goings on of this site any longer I specifically chose not to "quit" so it wouldn't be silly whenever someone linked me something here I might feel like commenting on.)

@Xenon: Ah, that could have been more clear. My quality control comment was more about the site in general. I've looked at a bunch of these rp threads and seen a good number of trolls (or just thoughtless players or would be GMs). It was not my intention to insult your RPing community though.

As for the other Fate RP springing up... well, I could see it as insulting or not an issue depending on your viewpoint. The Fate setting is more or less so overdone as an RP that at this point I wouldn't really find it shocking to see two different ones or more in the same place at the same time. You might all want to at least keep an eye on both and see which things which GM (and players) do better. The only way to really get better is learning from mistakes and from others. Not like RPing is something you can take a class on (and it'd be more or less useless even if you could).

Mostly I just came and commented because Rise said that silly thing about not letting people play in his game and play in the other one. That and the rather rude first reply in the other one that was sort of like a thug trying to protect their boss's turf. That's just not how I think any RPing community should feel. I might have sounded a little harsh to Rise. This is because I'm often harsh when talking to Rise. [size=2]Maybe if he didn't have such a self important attitude about everything.....ok, that's really neither here nor there.[/h] Overall I'm sure he'll just view this as just another time I tried to give him some advice (that he may or may not listen to).

Oh and lmao @ 19 days being a "long time". Well either laughing or crying. The longer you play/run RPs the more you'll get used to circumstances conspiring to draw things out or even sink games before they even start.

Well, it's the longest I've seen for a RP to start; most suggestion threads I've seen take around 3-9 days after sufficient interest has been shown.

I can't seem to find a disagreement in your arguement, your points are valid in your own neutral stand... Although some of the comments annoyed me a little, i accept them as mistakes on my own part.

Yes, i'd find it pleasant if you'd drop by from time to time, having a wild Ramsus around is refreshing. I apologise if my comment on the other RP seemed arrogant, the feeling of being ninja'd caused my blood to boil a little.

HAH, it's already been 2/3's of a month? Fine, geez, I'll start working seriously. If I work at the speed of light, it can probably start today, tomorrow, or on Sunday. What's taking so long is that freeform forum RPs that involve PvP can just...get fucking messy. So instead I want to use a number-based system that will be fair for all and will explain why someone wins over someone else. So basically...converting the Nasuverse into numbers.
