The moment in which a hand grabbed her shoulder, Sana gasped. She quickly got off her chair, then turned around to see who it was. Ever since the incident that shook her life forever, she was very uncomfortable about someone touching her from the back, the self-cautiousness suddenly rose up in her brain like an electric shock, prompting her to give such a reaction to a simple action in which someone touches her from behind. After seeing who it was, Sana was left speechless. She couldn't believe it was Misaka Mikoto, who stood there look at her. Many questions popped up in her mind; none escaped through her lips. She couldn't even imagine Misaka to remember her face, as she only saw her for a few seconds in the bridge, they were not face-to-face either. This shocked her. "Huh? The bridge? I don't know what you're talking about, I was at school all day yesterday," Sana lied, even she herself didn't know why she did that, but she did. Perhaps it was instinctive.
Misaka looked puzzles, ... Really? she took a moment to ponder. That couldn't be, the features are familiar, the hair color, to the eyes, to even the very curves of her figure, that includes the uniform too. She was clearly lying. This made Misaka even more suspicious. "Don't lie! Who are you, a spy?! Who hired you?!! I saw your face, the eye-colors that clearly makes you stand out, and the hair!" Misaka tried to tone down her voice, as this was still in the public. She wore an expression of suspicion and doubt. She could also be someone hired by the higher-ups to keep an eye on her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to spy on you and your boyfriend's argument. It just tso happened that the two of you were in the bridge I had to pass to go to a certain place," Sana replied frantically. "I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to spy on you," Sana said as she bowed her head.
"Then, why did you lie?" Misaka held an expression of disbelief, as if realizing something she said, Misaka suddenly snapped, while shuddering, "W-W-W-Wait!! What?!! He isn't my b-b-b-b-boyfriend!!" Misaka heavily stuttered. Her face seemed to be as red as a rose. It was flustered so much that one would mistake her face for a large tomato if they saw her from outside the shop.
"Really? But, the way you got mad at him in the park seemed like you got mad at him for cheating on you or forgetting something important related to you," Sana said as she started calming down a bit. "Also, the reason I lied was because I didn't think anyone from school would have seen me out on that day. I'm not one to skip out on school, after all," Sana bowed again in apology.
"N-N-N-No!! I-Its not like that at all! We don't have that kind of a relationship, really! I just had a score to settle with that guy is all!" Misaka clearly had something akin to a panic attack. Her blushed face slightly glowed with scarlet light, her embarrassment was soon reaching it's peak. Upon hearing her next sentence, she was able to somehow calm herself down. "Wait, what? If you're one to not to skip school, why'd you skip in the first place? That's clearly not something a serious student would do," as she was able to somewhat bring her mind down from the state of turmoil, she took a seat beside the silver-haired girl with whom she started to get somewhat acquainted with.
"I see, so I misunderstood the situation, then." Sana replied, a bit nervously as she never expected to be having a conversation with the Misaka Mikoto. "Well, you see, the reason I skipped was because one of the children at the orphanage I volunteered to work on, wanted me to peform on their birthday for them but it just so happenedd that their party was being held before class ended, and I needed to show up earlier to prepare it."
"Oh... I see, I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions, then," Misaka pondered for a moment... a play, volunteering on what? "Volunteered? To do what?" she then remembered something, "Ah, that was kind of rude of me. I didn't introduce myself, did I? My name is Misaka Mikoto," she was so tense and suspicious that she forgot all about introducing.
"My name is Minase Sana. Its a big pleasure talking to you Misaka-san," Sana said nervously. "I-If you're wondering about the volounteer work, its performing plays for children," Sana then manipulated electromagnetic field to make her doll float in the air, "And I am Sana-sama's biggest helper and her best friend Touma," doll said as if it where alive.
"Nice to meet you as well," Misaka then raised her eyebrows after hearing that she volunteered, "Ooh, no wonder you skipped classes. Though, volunteering for children huh? Sounds like a great thing to do." That's one nice person, but a play? "But... what kinda play? And why are you voice acting your doll... ?" Misaka felt confused, rather, she was weirded out. She confirmed it this time, Another weirdo!! there was no irony. A person with heterochromia in her eyes, silver-hair, going around with a doll, with which she acts as though it's alive and voices out the words of the 'doll'. She knew that there were all sorts of weird people in Academy City, as espers were nothing normal, but were abnormal, but this was beyond her, and the fact that she made the doll float was even weirder to Misaka, but then something came to her mind, The doll floated?.
Misaka held onto a forced smile on her facial features, a corner of her mouth slightly twitching. This was the first time she met a person who's almost every features were abnormal to -this- extent. But then she felt something, it felt like magnetic waves oozing out of this person, Could it be... an electromaster?!, this feeling was backed up by the fact that she made the doll float. Misaka remembered that she was able to make dolls float and could control them by putting metallic objects inside them, this person known as Sana can do the same thing to. She didn't realized it till now, because there's so many things in the city that had electrical and electromagnetical phenomena going on, as it was Academy City - the mecca of electronics. As such they were the most common items in the city, but after getting considerably close - physically - to this person known as Minase Sana, it become evident that she too, is an electromaster.
"Oh you can tell I was doing the voice?" Sana said with a bit of astonishment, normaly some people believed it was just electronic and that it was a type of robot which spoke by itself, "Well I just thought it'd be fun to show you what kind of performance I do," Sana said while her face got a bit red.
"W-Well... I assumed you manipulated the doll via electro magnetism, by putting a metallic object inside the doll itself, otherwise I can't feel anything that would make the doll some kinda mini-robot, besides, the voice sounded really similar to yours anyway, that much was obvious to Misaka, the level 5 strongest electromaster, that the doll couldn't possibly speak on it's own, a logical deduction would be that Sana herself spoke in it's stead, while she did think that kids would love these kind of plays, she herself felt slightly interested; perhaps her childish side was showing. "So, the plays are done with the type of dolls like the one you're holding there?"
On the other hand, she thought, is that the doll's name... was Touma, the same name of the person who she had a score to settle with, and a person who seemed rather hard to understand. Why'd she name this doll the same name as that person? Was it because she was related to him? She pondered about that after asking about the play.
Sana's eyes sparkled with happiness. She never thought that she'd be having this type of a conversation with the Misaka Mikoto. She thought she'd probably make fun of her for what she did or even say it was childish. "Yes, the plays are done with dolls like Touma, though the only difference is that I make the other dolls myself. Usually I use dolls of cats, dogs, pigs, rabbits, frogs, lions and few other kind," Sana said euthustically.
"Ooh, so you must be really good at sewing. By the way... why is your doll named 'Touma'?" Misaka carefully calculated the moment at which she let the question out of the bag, she'd probably let the answer out swiftly this way, as she seemed to be somewhat excited while conversing about this specific topic. But wait... she thought, her face lit up, with stars on her eyes, as if she inherited Shokuhou Misaki's eyes for a slight moment through a miracle, but it soon went away with disappointment Frog?! Oh wait... frog... she realized that only she is a gekoer, she most likely meant normal frogs, not gekota.
Sana slightly tilted her head, wondering why she'd ask that of all things. It then came to her mind that she did happen to hear the boy's name in the bridge back then, "Don't worry! It doesn't have anything with your freind Touma. It's just a coincidence that they have the same name. It just so happens to be the name I like. When I combine the names of my siblings and our last name, you get 'Touma' you see. I guess we where really close that in a way I just want to feel like we are still all together having fun," Sana said, laughing a bit.
"I-Its not like I was asking about your doll's name for THAT guy anyway!! Jeez!" Misaka took heavy breaths, as if to try to calm herself down. "But wait, siblings' names? Is that like the initials of their other names?"
"Pretty much yeah. The 'T' is for my little sister Tamaki, the 'O' is for Okito the youngest of the boys, the 'U' is for Ukito the third eldest sibling, of course the 'M' is for our last name Minase, and finally the 'A' is for Arata the eldest of the boys."
"Woah, you have so many siblings... but hmm, Tamaki, I feel like I've heard that name before somewhere... I think it was when I visited my friend's workplace. She works in Judgement."
"I hope you didn't hear her name after she got into some trouble or something," Sana let out a laugh again. "My sister works for Judgment as well, so that's why you probably heard her name. Though I'm surprised to hear you know somewhat from Judgement as well. Your friend must be a wonderful person helping out others."
"Well, my roommate Shirai Kuroko, also my best friend, has been working for Judgement since she was young, I've visited the office she works on from time to time with a friend too. You should come hang around with us sometime, it's fun, you might even see your sister at work, who knows. Although I think your little sister works under a different branch office," Misaka smiled as she suggested her to hang out together. She seemed like a nice person, albeit weird, Misaka didn't feel any ill intent when she explained her situation when they met in the bridge. A new friend is never a bad thing.
Sana felt joy in hearing Misaka words. Ever since she came to Academy City, she was barely able to make any friends. The sudden thought of what might happen if she did meet Tamaki at the Judgment headquarters came to mind. A bit of fear had come to Sana's mind since she had not forgotten the words her sister had told her the other day. Even though all she wants is to see that her sister is safe, but all Tamaki had been doing ever since she joined Judgement is avoid her. Sana soon realized she was crying, she quickly wiped her tears, "I-I'm sorry but I think it would be a bad idea if I go, I don't think Tamaki would want to see me there if we ran into each other," Sana said as she tried to calm her self down.
Misaka panicked, she had no idea why she'd suddenly start crying, but she tried her best to calm her down instantly. The padestrians and the other customers of the pastry shop took glances too, hearing the girly squirmes of the cry. Putting her hand on her shoulder, she tried to cheer her up, "C-Calm down, I don't know if you two had a fight with each other or something! But I think there's only a 2% chance of you ever getting to meet her on that branch office!" Misaka was bad at cheering people up, especially when she did it frantically while she felt panicked and pressured herself, "And besides, you can make up if you meet her again, right?!"
"I-I'm really sorry about this!" Sana apologized as she started to calm down, "It's just that I don't even know why she started avoiding me! All I want to do is to protect her!! I just don't want something to happen to her again!" Sana said as she took some small deep breaths. "You must think I'm some kind of weirdo cause of my sudden outburst you probably don't want to hang out with me now"
"Hmm... how should I say this," Misaka hesitated for a moment, smiling and scratching the back of her head for a moment, "I mean, I totally know the feeling when you get worried like that for a sibling. But I think she just doesn't want you to worry about her, if she knows that you're worried sick, you'll be getting in the way of her work mentally. So... uh, what I'm trying to say is, just try to protect her from the shadows, or something. I don't know, it's not like I'd stay still if I heard that someone important to me is getting into danger, but you know, sometimes it's also good to trust people. Kuroko isn't as strong as me but she gets her job done, I hear she was strong even when she was young. So, let your little sister grow? You could watch over her secretly and help out in a way she wouldn't know, or something, when she gets into something that is truly beyond her hands. Ah, sorry, I'm not too good with dealing with these kind of feelings either, I'm somewhat in a similar postion as you. Sometimes I wish they'd just ask for my help instead of recklessly dealing with danger!" Misaka gave a light laugh, she didn't know how to express her feelings properly, but she did it anyway.
