Maybe Yuzuru just got stuck in limbo for a few months while Kanade died and got there right away. Before you make assumptions you have to remember there is still a prologue manga ongoing on that could explain many of your questions, I'm sure Maeda would've noticed the plot holes, especially if it was fairly obvious they existed to begin with.
It's unfortunate Key couldn't have gotten a longer time-slot but the world runs on money and there's not much you can do about it if you can't afford it.
Plot holes aside, Maeda still delivered something better than much of what we see for anime today and I still consider him a genius from the bottom of my heart. I have yet to see another man bring out as much emotion in his audience as Maeda did within 13 episodes.

Makoto Shinkai, and he only makes movies that only runs for 1-2 hours, yet he can still bring out THE EMOTION.

Makoto Shinkai is very talented, to be honest it was watching his "Hoshi no Koe" that got me into the whole tear-jerking drama genre from the start. They showed it on television around 3 in the morning a couple of years back, I still remember it like it was yesterday.
Also, that myanimelist forum link was quite interesting, so thanks for showing.

This is why I never said, "Oh Jun Maeda is A GENIUS" at the first place. Angel Beats has too many plot holes.

I still think Jun Maeda is a great writer, but the ending brought down the rest of the series. I feel as though some emotional parts are diminished by the liberal use of tear jerking at the end. Some stuff just came out of no where. While the show would have benefited from a longer season, there still is to many plot holes and questions left.
All in all I am disapoint - this ranks along side Air (or slightly above it) and definitly below Kanon and Clannad.
Plus, I loathe endings with reincarnation themes. I don't want to know the characters are happy in the next life - I want to know what happens in this life.

definitely agree with you there. although i understand that some people believe that the ending was great, i cant really accept it as it is.
i also heard theyre releasing an extra episode that explains what happens afterwards in the DVD version of Angel Beats. not sure if it's true, but if it is...

I didn't see this post last time...
I completly agree though. I understand some people loving the show/ending because they found it sad (especially if they haven't seen Key's better work), but I was mostly annoyed because of the way the story was told. Things didn't make sense, even taking into account that it dealt with paranormal themes.
Good story told badly.

His delay could be because his heart was still alive in Kanade. Plus who knows how the time passes in the afterlife the whole show could've taken place in a whole nano-second worth of time here on earth. Picking out time frame inaccuarcies in a series about the afterlife is kinda like the supernerds who mock Star trek and Star wars for scientific inprobabilities.

The Ending left me heartbroken...well until
After the credits rolled and they decided to show what happens in the next life. that left me happy for them, but pissed that i allowed them to play with my emotions...
Overall the series was great.
