Anime getting shitty?

its true i do find alot of the new ones are really shitty but maybe its becuase of the type of anime people like.

if a company notices the masses enjoy this than the other than they will disregard all nonsence and give the fans what they want.

but there are a few golden eggs here and there, like latly ive been reading magi.
which is so nice.

Lol. Just pick what you want. They make like 30/40+ each season. There's ought to be 1 or 2 that fits your taste.

True Enough. All I see in current animes are tons of fanservice, moe characters and the like. Most of them lost the story. BUT STILL THERE IS HOPE!! There are still animes with good story, for example, I loved AnoHana, A few fanservice I guess but it's so minimal I cant even remember if they really did have one, but the story is awesome! Also there is Aquarion EVOL it gets interesting as the story goes! And Fairy Tail I mean it's not like Bleach or DBZ wherein the main characters gets ridiculously strong then gets beaten by a ridiculously strong opponent, and the cycle repeats. Natsu's strength grows slowly I mean he still lost to Zancrow!

Once again I say, it's not the total of fanservice or the moe that's the problem.
Older animes also has many fanservice and "their own moe style".

Ot: I still think most anime is shitty on the plot and script.. i seen very little fan service involvement to the shitfile. Yeah.. panty and stocking was shit for me.. the plot make the fan service and story shitty. Fan service is just a name for anime who can't make a awesome story with boobs and moe cutey. Fan service can be use it abjection with a awesome story and dialog to add some more ratings or a necessary part of a anime ranking and storyline... i can't imagine love hina or elfen lied without some skin or ecchi scenes. Just not possible. In the long run.. it not the era or the company fault that the otaku masses want moe or ecchi shit with awesome plotline animu. Blame the fan.. not the art.

That's what I meant by "fanservice isn't a problem", It's the story and it's up to you to like it or not, and personal taste is the main deciding factor you like an anime or label it shitty.

Some people like deep analyzing the story, Some people just wants to sit back and take off their thinking caps.

Shitty or not shitty depends entirely on the person who's actually watching it. Heck, even as the time pass, thing that you call 'good' may turn 'shitty', depending on your current mood. Some people like to deeply analyze the story, while some like to just sit back and enjoy the show without too much thinking. And again, those serious bunch sometimes also want to let off the steam and just enjoy the show, and vice versa. The term 'shitty' is highly subjective, mate.

I think that it just depends on what you look for in an anime is all. The art could be beautiful and you could think the anime would have a good storyline to go with it but in the end you kind of get disappointed because the story did not meet your expectations. I am very picky with my anime but just because I don’t like the plot doesn’t mean that everyone will. I think it just depends on what you like to see in anime. I don’t think that it’s going downhill though. Just depends on your taste

I guess for me, what I dont like nowadays is the lack of good plot in the current animes. Fanservice is good we all love them as long as it doesnt go overboard, right?

Once again it depends and there's a difference, Some animes are targeted to go overboard, some animes are just stupidly padded with fanservice.

Like "Queens blade" and "Seikon no Qwaser", Both are intended to have over the top fanservice, since it's basically their charm besides the good enough story. (Seikon no Qwaser is honestly a good shonen genre story)

For the Stupidly padded fanservice, these animes added "new" fanservice material that's not in the original source to the point it bothers the story, main example is "Rosario to Vampire" with excessive panty shots with the bad censors.

there is always bad title in every era, it's not like every single anime back then in 90's were exceptionally good, there were tons of shitty one too.

I can still find something to watch every season, and that's enough for me.

the only thing I kinda missed is the character design, I can't seem get into this 'moe' stuff, however I might still watch if the plot interesting enough.

And as of Seikon no Qwaser I love the anime, I wish they focused more on the story more, dont you agree? I mean the their abilities were awesome plus fight scenes are cool!

Every year there is always a thread like this comparing how the previous years were better than the current. Yeah its easy when somebody else recommends an anime to you or you watch one thats on adult swim or cartoon network because they have already sampled all the anime in the past and they are only showing you the good ones. The difference is now instead of being recommended or shown which past animes to watch you are now sampling the entirety of what they have to offer - good and bad. You can't just lump all the anime from one season and compare it to single anime from a past season. That is insane. They have to cater their anime to every demographic they have.

I like the anime that I chose to watch for this season. They all have good stories, great artwork, animation, and sound.

Fate/zero 2 : fucking awesome in every department. If you aren't watching this then YOU are insane.
Sakamichi no apollon: josei but its based in the 60s with cool jazz music. Story is starting to pick up and I like it.
Accel World: really cool concept gives us a glimpse of what the future could be like. Its not awesome but its still a good watch.
Lupin 3rd: TITTIES and of course lupin stuff with great stories every episode.
Dusk Maiden of amnesia: I like the stupid situations that they get into. Like accel world its not awesome but still worth a watch.

Accel World and Dusk maiden are probably the ones you are referring to as the current "typical" anime. Honestly I see nothing wrong with them. The point is being entertained and they do this fairly well. I don't expect their stories to get too deep but I do expect them to provide good comic relief. The other 3 I am watching are probably not what you are referring to as "typical" and I like them a lot.

Anime nowadays. is running on the same formula all over and over again.

1. Plot always revolves in a school grounds.If not, then something similar about it.
2. Protagonist is either or choose to be unsensitive about the feeling of the lead girl.
3. Harem, it's like every character in the anime are girls.
4. Ecchi Fan-service.- honestly this one is getting boring. if you ask me.

Once again, another one blaming current animes while "unknowingly" old animes basically did the same.

All that you mentioned has been used since Japan created anime, so stating that "nowadays" is incorrect.

1. School Setting: It's been like that for years, because most of the target audience is Students.

2. Insensitive: Insensitive guys only exist in shoujo genre, where the main guy isn't the protagonist. What you're looking for is indecisive, but honestly a story where the male protagonist isn't indecisive is boring. It's like someone who doesn't have any competition, he'll just go lazy. Or become a complete ass of a playboy like DNA2

3. Harem: Once again this genre has been used since before time. It's not a new thing. And let's count how many "harem animes" this season....there's Only 5 from 36-ish titles...not so much huh?

4.Ecchi fan service: Honestly, how many ecchi animes did you actually watch, and how many ecchi animes are in this season..let's count again....11 from 36-ish titles, once again not that much compared to the total amount.

In this case, the problem isn't with the animes itself, but you, the watcher. Your problem usually comes from the lack of animes you watch, and only watching "old famous" animes.
Complaining that there's too many ecchi and fanservice animes just proves the way you watch your anime.

The complaints about anime getting old is getting old. And frankly anime is not getting old. First off whats wrong with harem or ecchi, its entertaining, I mean the whole reason why we watch anime is for entertainment not for any sort of personal fulfillment, and there are plenty of what I label "awesome as fuck" shows still out there, and this season is just full of them, even though I think overall its a bad season.

Fate/Zero, there is no speaking how much awesome this show is, this is WHAT Fate/Stay Night should've been, if F/SN looked like this, it would be perfect. Sakamachi no Apollon and Acchi Kocchi have just sold me in the slice of life department, and Sakamachi is not your typical school setting, its in the 60s the time of the Japanese economic miracle, and really captures the image of a Japan economically sound but also heavily influences by American culture as well (obv cause of the jazz), and Acchi Kocchi, is simply plain funny, I don't think I've laughed so much since Lucky Star, thats how great it is. And if you haven't had enough epicness, hit up Jormungand, gun fights, political drama, war zones, what more do you need.

Well said Kaimax and raichama. I really just think the ones complaining are new to this and haven't really watched much anime other than the really popular ones. Like the reality that not all anime is epic suddenly hit them. I had similar feelings when I really started getting deep into it. However, I started looking around more, combed review sites, and started watching anime that had a good rating and looked interesting. You also have to expand your bounds a bit and not get stuck on a particular genre. There's always a few gems out there - you just have to look for them.

Honestly I think anime is getting better. The production values compared to the past are just off the charts now. You hardly come across a bad voice actor and the art is really clean and the backgrounds are full of detail. They also pick out good BGMs during the show.

tl;dr If you don't like what you are watching then drop it and pick up a different title. There's tons of anime out there.

I do enjoy the production values they put into recent titles like Fate/Zero which is to me a visual masterpiece, but I don't think I can completely agree with this. While this is just my personal preference on animation I think that some anime don't need the bright colors and computerized effects to have stunning animation. A good example is Gundam 08th MS Team. 08th MS Team had some brilliant and well animated scenes while still holding onto that old look from the mid to late 90's. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you should really check that show out. Example

I do realize that we have come a long way with what we can do now in anime. Some studios like Sangizen have really done a top notch job with integrating CG into anime. Most notably to me is the Black Rock Shooter TV series. The fight scenes in that show were fantastic and the CG was almost unnoticeable at some points, and even if you did notice the CG it didn't stop the show from looking great. Example

tl;dr - I'm not saying new animation today is crap, but I will always love some of the styles from the 90's.
