Best Anime Soundtrack?

What anime do you think has the best soundtrack?

Ill give Clannad my vote, the instrumentals are superb and the piano is top notch.

Also that instrumental piece during Nagisa's you know what really didn't help me feel any better about the situation :cry:.

Samurai Champloo or Fooly Cooly. Samurai Champloo has a variety of songs, tunes, and melodies that go well with it. There's this one song from the series that I really like, though it's rather depressing to me. It's called "Obokuri Eemui". Hah, listening to it while upset or depressed can bring tears to my eyes. Lol. Some music has that effect.

And "The Pillows", the band behind most of FLCL's music is simply amazing.

But that's my opinion, what is best to me.

Mai-HiME or Shingetsutan Tsukihime (though few might agree). Macross Frontier from the more recent ones.

Cowboy Bebop.
Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts cover so many genres, it's incredible.

Clannad also gets my vote and so does Kanon. The music really pulls you into the animes and I love the tunes. :) Key does great work.


I have to agree that FLCL had a great soundtrack. I love The Pillows. :)

The Naruto OST's are awesome as hell, love those flutes.

"Boys Be" for me i guess, i just like the mellow background song and the OP and ED songs

Not surprised you never heard of it. It's a very elusive anime that's been shrouded in mystery for many years to the point that people started believing it doesn't exist.
It is said that an extremely fast torrent for it appears once every 13 months during a full moon.

It's awesome I tell you and the music kicks the crap out of the game soundtrack
(totally true BTW).



Anyways a few more awesome soundtracks I ought have mentioned (apart from the obvious Bebop/Champloo ones) :

Hellsing TV : say what you will about the series but the soundtrack is badass
Wolf's Rain : Yoko Kanno + jazz + blues + buttload of other neat shit
Ghost in the Shall - Innocence : Kenji Kawai in his fuckin' best

Clannad, Bleach (most of the songs), Code Geass, Fate Stay Night

While I do agree with a few OSTs posted above such as Cowboy Bebop (w/Yoko Kanno of course), etc etc... I'm gonna have to be VERY BIASED; I'd have to say "meh" to the rest and go with my personal choices! (no offense intended to others' preferences)

Just by listening to both albums, anyone should be able to grasp the whole concept/theme of the series.

I've actually got a lot more in my collection but I guess those 5 series' OSTs are by far my most treasured ones. :D

I'm planning to add "White Album's OST" in my collection pretty soon, hopefully... (money sure ain't easy to come by...) :roll:

Honestly? Clannad and Kurokami have the best soundtrack I've heard so far. I love the music in Kurokami. The second OP is great, I really want to find an MP3 of it. Granrodeo - Trance.

My thoughts exactly. There are plenty of anime with good music, but FLCL is the first to come to mind.

My first time watching it, when it gets to the climax of the episodes and the music kicks, I get chills because it's so well done. The music choices and the timing are perfect.

I enjoy the Code Geass OST's a lot. Almost all the tracks are great have a sort of high class feeling to them if you know what I mean.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Macross Frontier. :?
