Best Anime Soundtrack?

Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Soundtrack 1+2 by Toshiyuki O'mori. Never saw the anime, but the soundtrack is oustanding.

Kara no Kyoukai, Soundtracks by Yuki Kajiura. Hated the anime, love the soundtracks.

Mushishi, Soundtracks 1+2 by Masuda Toshio. Liked the anime, loved the soundtracks.

There's alot of great songs in animes and I'm not sure which ones to choose from, so I'll just give you guys a classic one that is one of my favorites:

While it doesn't contain what I'd consider to be any of my favorite songs, I'd say overall .hack//SIGN has the best soundtrack.

Best Anime Soundtrack.. hm... first thing that comes to my mind would be Macross Frontier. Pretty much the whole Macross Serie had a good OST.
I also do love the Gist Stand alone Complex Soundtrack.

Yuki Kajiura right there. Her OSTs seem to be the best, and she does have a cult following too.

Any song (or CD) made by Yoko Kanno automatically has the best anime soundtrack. Period!

That's a tough one.

While what can be defined as the "best soundtrack" varies from person to person, I think what everyone can agree on is the music that is able to connect with you on some level, is the best of all.

A good soundtrack to me, is a music that makes the perfect mood for the anime. That said, besides the NHK one, my favorites are:
-Clannad - and many people also think so.
-INITIAL D - FUCK YEAH!! Whenever I watch an episode of it, I can't help but put the volume to the max and just go along with the songs.
-Gantz - I dunno if it counts as OST, but the sound here really made an awesome mood (and im not talkin about the OPs and EDs)
-Death Note - Also made an awesome mood.
-Detroit Metal City - The heavy metal tunes makes it so much more comical.
-Afro Samurai

Cowboy Bebop. "Tank / Walk in the rain" are staples.

Anything by L'Arc N Ciel.. There one of the Best^^

Any song from Macross Frontier. the song's there rock!

Why are some of you naming single music pieces or OPs/EDs ? A buttload of shows out there with a single cool song and otherwise mediocre OSTs ...

Ive seen my fair share of anime and while many have great soundtracks only one has compelled me to actually go and buy the cd : R.O.D. (the movie)
