A wraparound jacket band has revealed that Durarara!!, the light novel series by Baccano! author Ryohgo Narita, is getting animated. The novels already inspired a manga series in Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine earlier this year. Narita has written six Durarara!! novels since he launched the series in 2004.(ANN)
Synopsis: The story takes place in a downtown of Tokyo, Ikebukuro. Teenage punks gang up and fight against each other. The gangsters are afraid of an urban legend "Dullahan" headless rider, who rides a black motorcycle without head lights nor sounds of engine. Ryuugamine Mikado is a normal high school boy who seeks peculiar beings. When he moves in to Ikebukuro, a mad scramble for Dullahan's missing head breaks out.

Though I'm not exactly familiar with this (light novel) series, knowing that Ryohgo Narita (Baccano!'s author) was behind this should be more than enough to keep tabs on it. Also, that image you posted sure reminded me a lot of Yozakura Quartet. Just so you know, I do like that style. (I only hope it'd be incorporated this time with a much better story and animation studio)
PS: Come to think about it, that particular report/news was posted on my birthday. I'd take this as sort of your belated gift to me. :D

FYI,Durarara!! will be animated by Brain Base...same studio that animated Baccano! & also some of Baccano staff will working on this including the director Omori Takahiro (Baccano,Jigoku Shoujo and Natsume Yuujinchou)it means that this anime will be a good adaptation.

Perhaps we'll get to see the adaptation early next year if that much info is already available. Also, not exactly my favorite lineup of seiyuus there, but regardless, I know exactly how good they are. And Toshiyuki Toyonaga, it's good to know that he'd be taking on the lead role (this should be fun).

Yes, I've seen the trailer the moment words of it got out a couple of nights back, and I must say it's pretty good that I've already even decided on who's gonna be my favorite character. Guess who?

Huh, I thought I posted in here...
So, I had thought I had posted in here saying how excited I was for this series.
I just started the first episode and though I've only watched three minutes so far, I'm really enjoying it!
I'm watching this after having my hopes dashed after watching about two minutes of Dance in the Vampire Bund which was simply horrific...
Though I will admit that didn't really have to do with the series AT FUCKING ALL so I intend to watch the next episode just to check if it keeps up with that trend of shit.
Also, I'm really enjoying this episode!
I am confused by the ongoing chatroom though.
I'm sure it'll be explained later on but I just wanted to mention that since it was bothersome to be left in the dark about something that seemed so... unimportant.
While I loved the abduction scene, the guy coming out and randomly saying something COMPLETELY UNRELATED COMPLETELY FUCKING UNRELATED to anything was kinda bothersome...
Though it coulda been a translation error or a fucking, suspense?! though really its not and just fucking retarded.
While I don't mind that the show is racist, the show is racist or at the very least, awkard about any race other than
I have to say I enjoyed the first fight scene.
Wow, this show is great.
I was thinking, "The realistic thing to do if yer' chased by a motorcycle would be just to break and let him smash into you instead of just some hi-speed chase and would ya look at that?"
The mothafucka stopped the car and the motorcycle slammed into it and got busted up, now with more thought on the matter it didn't seem to make a dent which is just laziness on part of the staff.
Thought it was playing right into authors convenience that the guy gets out of the car...
I would be a little spooked to get out!
Also, I am now aware of that fact I haven't the foggiest what this "Color Gang" is...
So I finished the episode and I have to say I enjoyed it for the most part.
It shows promise.
That'll be quite the challenge :3

Just watched the first episode & i'm impressed with this episode.

I think you should spoiler that, but whatever. First episode had a great presentation. The characters were interesting and the plot seems like it will build up. I look forward to continuing this series as one of the more serious animes in my list for 2010.

We were introduced to characters and the situation going on in that city.
There was nothing less and nothing more.
Also, this being the animes topic, people coming in here should be expected to have watched the episode or see others discussing what happened in the episodes.
Its their own stupidity that got them spoiled.
