Just finished Episode 8 and if I thought I was raging around episode 3, I lied. I'm officially raging now and panning this series as trash.
Call me overly paranoid or critical, but can't we get one series that doesn't go through its "epic" emo/angst/wallowing-in-self-pity/wuss segment that totally derails character development?
I mean, they go through ten minutes of Charlotte whining and bitching about her life has become meaningless since the Empire disavowed her existence. Nice, they only do that about once every series for exiled Imperial children. (Code Geass, etc.) Then there's the whole free city must surrender or face destruction thing. Predictable on both ends. Predictable in the mayor's response and Cecily being an idiot. "Do something?" "Protect Charlotte?" Bullshit. Cecily's supposed to be a KNIGHT. PROTECTING THE CITY. So we screw around yelling about helping others (who are going through their emo-phase) without any idea of the consequences.
Probably the only things about this episode that were positive would be Luke showing up and a moderately amusing fight. Cecily's epic declaration of her mental capabilities was funny.
Which of course ends with CHARLOTTE DECLARING THAT SHE RENOUNCES THE NAME E. Way to go. You just disavowed your life's existence for the first 10+ years you've been around. Now go find a hidey hole somewhere in the middle of nowhere and live like a coward for the rest of your life. THIS IS ANIME. Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb. Just because your asshole of a father doesn't acknowledge you, fucking grow a pair and FORCE him to. Go do something badass and make him regret every waking moment that he did so. One whining idiot (read: Cecily) is enough for this series, did the writers really have to turn Team Charlotte into idiots as well?
