If you want Death Note, read the manga. It's better. TTGL is a better anime and the movies make it even better.

Both of my favorite anime in one battle huh? Death Note had a good story yet it was slow at times, Brilliant art style, intelligent storyline. Gurren Lagann easy to understand, yeah at times a bit over the top, and the art style is decent.

For me, Gurren Lagann because I found myself emerged in the story a lot more than DN.

Definitely Gurren Lagann. If we were talking about manga, however, I would have to go with Death Note.

GL was one that I never gave a chance at first until I watched this scene



After that I continued to watch the series and was overall satisfied with its humor and story. It was one of those awesome action random series we haven't had in a long while. I was however quite disappointed with the ending though and never understood why it couldn't be a happy ending; I mean it built up to this final point and then they make a main character a type of hermit.

Death Note was also an enjoyable series to me, one of the better shounens I've read in a while. Naruto Bleach or whatever had nothing on DN. DN boasted an interesting story type that relied more on story and plot devices to push the series along; this kept the readers interested. Though, I have to say what must have been the downside for DN for me was that Light was too egotistical to realize that he was no different from a tyrannical dictator.

In the end though it is more preference making this a bad poll one which is better as both series are of a separate genre and story type.

i think that TTGL is easier to enjoy with.. it's not that i don't like death note (i've read it till the end)..

so i guess TTGL is better imo

anyway it's not fair to compare them though since it's a very different in story genre

wow...tough choice, while i am a huge fan of death note i also enjoyed gurren lagann. both series where very good in my opinion but i've seen the entire death note series about 5-6 times all the way through while on the other hand i've only seen TTGL 3 times. but looking at it this way though the dub of Death Note was phenominal while the dub of Gurren Lagann was sub standard(not to say i didn't enjoy it). now on the flip side Gurren Lagann subbed was very epic in its own right while the Death Note sub was again sub standard(again not to say i didn't enjoy it). so either way you cut this i think both animes are very good in their own right.

oh and one more thing to add...gurren lagann doesn't have three live action movies to its name does it(well yet)

IMO, I prefer Death Note. Light and L 1-upping each other and trying to get out of each others traps were awesome.

I honestly dont like either of them but seeing as GURREN LAGANN is written in capitals in the title of this thread then i'll go for that!! >__>

Gurren Lagann just because Misa did not die in Death Note. She gives up half her lifespan twice for the D*** Kira so she can help him kill people but she does not die. The F***!!!!!
