1. Unfortunately, if you had done a bit of research on me around the site, you would've seen my meet and greet to find out that I am not a newbie to this forum. However, I will not judge you for that but let me just say I have never come here for the hentai before, as I always believed that streaming is inadequate for my tastes even back then. I've always been here for the community, watching the drama in IB unfold while participating in past games and polls. So I believe I can safely count myself out from "those who leeched of fakku's good will" as you so eloquently called them. I was there when Kallen won that motemote, was there when LittleWhiteButterflies came and left, and then somewhere along the track, you came. You see unlike what you seem to picture me as, I actually value my stay in FAKKU here before, as I've met some of the most special people in my life here. Shame I had to leave back then as a few were beginning to ruin the community for me.

2. Dear oh dear. It seems for the third time you have misunderstood me. The puzzle is not a collection of doujin/ original works as you seem to picture it to be so. The puzzle is a set of services that an average person already pays for. It's a metaphor for his (the customer) budget, not FAKKU's variety of services. I hope this clears everything up.

Edit: However, I will comment on that part about "the content now are good etc." you are at least promoting the product. Rather than spiting everyone for their morals in the internet. Good for you!

Yes other sites are going to have Fakku's licensed content, it's as inevitable as the regular stuff getting out. Thing is, the point of this whole change is to try to give back to the artists making this stuff as much as it is to provide better content (and not get sued in the process). Jacob has stated repeatedly, ever since first announcing this, that he intended to go legit or at least support artists in any way he could from the beginning of Fakku. This has been his plan all along. The legal action Wani took just happened to open a door that Jacob walked trough to take that option. It's something he's wanted to do, rightly so it's their content, for a long time. I've said it before in other posts, it was only a matter of time before this happened. Hentai websites (the free kind), aren't as plentiful anymore. There's only a few big ones and they get shit taken down all the time. Fakku willingly took a chance and will grow bigger over time, but without having to worry about getting taken out by lawsuits this time.

I'll use an example from one of my favorite artists: Momi. One of my favorite works this author has done is a piece called Call and Response. I read this piece of work in it's censored form for the first time on this site. Now since then I've become aware that Momi's work has been illegally put on at least 3 other sites (2 big ones and one smaller one). Momi currently is not supported by the viewings I've given that work, or any of their other works. In fact, very few of my favorite artists were present in this change over to subscriptions. But I am not closed-minded enough to think that only those artists I enjoy must be what I view. If (and I really hope this happens) Fakku gets the chance to publish one of Momi's works fully uncensored, you better believe I'ma bust about 50 nuts to that before the day's out, and I'll do so happily knowing that Momi is receiving payment for such viewings.

I will fully admit I have still visited some other hentai websites since the change, but I'm trying to switch fully over to the (admittedly limited) quantity of works available on Fakku. I own a couple books, am subscribed, and have more than enough content to tide me over whenever I get in the mood. And I look forward every day to seeing what new stuff Fakku brings. Patience is the virtue here, and if you don't have that then I'm sorry to say you'll have to learn it.

I feel we need to remind people of the distinction between full on pirated rips and scanlations. Fakku, though it no longer hosts scanlations, supports scanlators. Most of the staff such as myself are former scanlators.

The goal of MOST scanlators is to translate and edit manga in their own language when the series is not legally licensed in their language. By doing this they help bring to the attention of licensors what series are popular online, and usually once the series was picked up by a company the scanlators would then pick up a different project. Yes, they're still "pirating" but usually it's with good intentions, and they constantly tell you to support the artist by purchasing the original Japanese content until it's licensed. Some people feel even this is morally questionable.

Now there is a distinction between this original goal, and the scanlators who would scanlate Shonen Jump series that were already licensed, like Naruto, but felt they had a "right" to continue scanlating since Viz was behind on releasing content in the US. However this doesn't apply in this instance, especially since we're releasing the chapters within the same month as Japan.

Rippers are full on pirates. They take licensed material, and illegally post it on the internet even when there is a legal alternative. Fakku chapters on other sites are not "scanlations". Our chapters are fully licensed and produced content that supports the industry and original artists. What people are reading on other sites are rips of illegally shared content. You're not supporting anyone by using them.

But pirating will happen. It's the internet. The best we at Fakku can do is try to make a product that people feel deserves support, and to turn to us instead when faced with the option.

2. No, they don't have to make space for it. As evidenced by the few hundreds who left (note hundreds is only a hyperbole) it seems that they are willing to let go of FAKKU, willing to not let the piece into their puzzle. Let's be real here you can only pay for as much as you can earn. Making space is not very easy especially if you're doing it every month. And before someone makes an example of his own experience about chipping in, not everyone is in the same situation. But you know what, nevermind, in the end of the day all these walls of text won't matter anyway. We're just serving as popcorn worthy entertainment and I have done enough of that in the past. I am probably in the minority in that I don't like subscription content; I prefer to own what I buy, permanently. Perhaps your subscription business model is the best, I don't know. As a potential consumer, I don't like it and won't support it.

I have spent around 8k USD on figures, pillow covers, and artbooks over 5 years. I have bought the digital editions of Fakku books during the 50% off sale. I bought books on sale from Project H. I'm telling you this to emphasize that I DO spend money.

The things I have paid for I own and can view them any time I so desire. Fakkusubs do not offer me that.

I like my chinese cartoon prons. If I see value in it, I will buy it. What value is there in Fakkusubs? After one year of a sub, what will I have to show for it? $168 lost with no content, that's what.

Its not a question of money; I can easily afford a subscription. The question is, why would I want to?

I can't preview anything.
I can't download anything.
I can't save anything.
I can't individually buy anything.



There is no doubt in my mind this will be successful, since after all DRM and subscriptions are more popular than ever these days. Count me out; I refuse to support that kind of sleaziness.

I stated that scanlations were still illegal. Perhaps my use of the word "support" was too strong? Looking back on it it was a poor choice. The point of my post was that Fakku is not out to vilify and go after scanlations.

Every scanlator knows what they're doing is illegal, and that by producing them stands the risk of receiving a DMCA notice, or more, from whoever holds the rights to the work. Fakku has the right to send out DMCA notices for their work, and Wani very actively does this for all their property no matter what the country or language. Unlicensed in your language or not, the original creator holds the right to the work.

Our goal is not to shut down scanlation sites, but to make it so that they're no longer needed for the fans.

Problem is they said no. They don't do digital porn. They tried.
