I see. Well, that's a pretty interesting way to start up a story.

I imagine that this method leads to a lot of possibilities though, for better or worse. Say I create a hardened combat experienced protagonist that grows soft and caring over the course of the story. From this point, the setting could be anything from a Gundam pilot to a swordsman in the Medieval age.

I think having some sort of idea or established setting that you can build off of first helps in character creation since you can base the life and experiences of your character more easily.

I don't know much about the character archetypes but I mostly use the characters to serve their purpose on conveying a peculiar message. There might be inconsistencies in personalities, but yeah I personally think the meaning and the overall feel is more important and I always made mistakes from time to time =)

Messages are nice and all, but I don't think you should ever make a character do something that doesn't fit unless you have a good reason to force it on them.

it's not that I want to force certain behaviors to the characters, rather, I think I do not have the strong foothold in which the character would behave so I just kind of thrown it all to the joint, at least that's for my previous stories before.

I don't like to exert the behavior that each characters must act in a fixed, peculiar way, though I just kind of drawn the line so each characters could be differentiated with one another =)

That aside, I have written a rather sexist post on Xenon's thread. Dropped a hint on how I think the plot ought to continue.

No. Enough as in I am an unpopular guy with no one man or woman wanting to come within an arm's length of me.

I think that has something to do with me telling me that they have to always look on the dark side of life.

ah I think it's very similar to me, and in my case, I also want to try my best on staying away from them because I just couldn't really get along well with the things they talked about. better than having to arouse unnecessary conflict~

You and I are both the same! I feel that way too! I dread being with a group of people, following them like sheep being herded to an abattoir, and getting chided for not conforming to their set of rules.

And because I get into a murderous mood when someone rebukes me for no good reason, better keep a distance from them!

After I wean off getting addicted to Mass Effect 3 perhaps I might consider doing more productive things like complaining about the Kotowari anime that is posted on the front page a few days back.

Not to mention calling my story, "The Not-So-Sacred Chronicles of the Exploits of the Offspring of the Royals of the Land of the Not-Monkeys that is to the North, otherwise known as Lannomonthaistonor."
