Yes. She is extremely weak to the point of self-detriment sometimes. I had 3 lives and a bomb going into Falling Stars and that spellcard took forever to play out. It was irritating enough that I just bombed through it. Her bomb is just as weak as she is too.
Her only saving grace is that she charges TRANCE the fastest
Charging trance quickly isnt really that useful though.
It's like her mechanic design is somewhat aimed toward 'safety', which should be beneficial to only new players who mostly prefer to play as safe as possible.
It doesnt feel like she is geared towards safety. Her focused shot misses the target hitbox if you arent in a good position, her shots in general arent strong, her bombs arent strong either, shes about as fast as Reimu, and has a hit-box on par with Marisa and Youmu. It sounds like shes the character someone experienced would pick to make life difficult. When playing Rainy Iwafune I had it beat just from experience and it was getting annoying/boring just waiting for Futo to run out of life. So much so that I felt like someone could make a not-paying-enough-attention mistake.
Surely ZUN started to think about balancing ever since UFO, which is the only logical explanation of why Sanae is nerfed big time. That, or maybe ZUN wants to show an independent-Sanae since I see no frogs or snakes during both her shooting and bombing animation.
Probably all of that. Maybe trying to draw attention towards trance as well. Sanae just doesnt have anything special for her in TD.
