If you ask me, being willing to set aside time for touhou and always going back for more is already enough to make one a "junkie" - if you were to follow the definition of it to a T.

Simply put, someone would get curious after seeing Touhou parodies of everything and slowly acquaint him/herself with the games/fandom. "start here" marker would mean potentially doing undesirable things first, or doing things that someone with a passing interest would find to difficult/time consuming. Imagine if the games didn't have easy mode for example, or if everything Touhou related was on one paid-member only site.Precisely. Touhou has 'charms' that not everybody can see in a single glance. Reading its literature, playing the games, reading the in-game conversations, listening to in-game themes, to name a few, are some from many things someone can do to know Touhou more. Having an anime, be it prologue or anything else, would kill those options automatically, entirely or not.
That being said, I suppose Manpuku Jinja's wise enough to focus at PV making that are focused on games instead of making original stuffs or full episode

You forgot ZUN's wordplay and the giant doujin following. A dedicated 12/24 episode anime would do that. But a single OVA like that 20 minutes PCB one doesnt seem to have much of an effect. Mostly likely because it was never on TV in Japan, so most of the viewers online are already Touhou followers.

Would you be against a short PV for the final stage boss of each game? The current PV's stay as they are, but say a 3 to 5 minute video on the final boss battle.
