Does Age Matter

Anyways, its not a rule, more like a general guideline. You can date within that guideline without giving it much thought since everyone will be fine with it and not really care. You go outside that and people will raise eyebrows. By the time the rule doesn't matter your old enough that you don't need it anymore.

Don't let age become an issue. The only age-related factor that should be involved with love is that one person is going to die before the other and people don't always die age-related deaths. However, you have to be in a really fucking serious relationship in order for that to be something worth taking into consideration. I've seen a lot of relationships fail because of age gaps and its really sad when that happens. Just leave love as it is.

I personally don't think 18 to 30 works. I have to say this from a little experience. I've dated women who were older than I was, and it never seems to turn out well. Now, granted older men are different, but I see some complications arising. The age gap just seems monstrous, and it certainly does seem like it will become a factor at some point in time.

What exactly or in general, if you don't mind me asking, was it that caused the relationships to not work out? I don't mean to single you out, I actually would like to pose the same question to anyone who it applies to. I'm planning on majoring in either Sociology or Psychology and even though I'm far from the point where I should be taking specific topics into consideration, I've always been interested in human interaction on any level. Call me curious fucking George, even though my name isn't George.

Seriously, what we have here is not so extreme... its only 12 years age gap...
To me it is just as common as interracial or same sex relationships... not very shocking...
If you want to see interesting relationship, try going to India for a change...
There, a marriage can be done even with different species...
For a religious purposes, one can marry a dog or a cow...

I'm going to have to disagree a bit with you here. Take no offense to anything I type here, they are general statements and are not meant to describe or criticize anyone. Interracial and same sex relationships, assuming the same age, are still relationships between people with, theoretically, the same amount of life experience. If 18 to 30 doesn't mean much to you, how about 14 to 26? In either case, the younger person has had much less experience at being an "adult" and handling the crap that life throws at you. I don't think that's fair to either person, but even less fair to the younger. I'm not saying it's impossible to bridge such a gap, just that it may be very difficult.

Even I, understand 14 years old VS 12 years age gap is a bit more than we can chew...
But 18 years old, 19 or 20 against 12 years gap is still possible, difficult but possible...
I've seen a friend of mine (married at 20, 23 years old today) married with a 33 years old man (36 today)...
13 years age gap, it's been three years, but they're doing okay...

Let me dig into my personal experience. My mother met my father when she was young and he was old. They had me, and I attended their wedding. [official bastard]

It was hell, my childhood. And they split. I'm not saying that this is dependant on age, but there were a few factors. So it may start nice, but be watchful and know when to split. Seriously. My mother had to cheat on my father to realise that she wanted out.

well, my own parents are 14 years apart in age (mom was 20, dad was 34, though it was technically my dad's second marriage), and they're still together after....god, I think it's been almost 30 years now. So I guess I'm a little biased towards saying that it can work. Still...I think love can find a way.

What happened to your parent might occur in any kind of marriage, not just one with age gap problems...
Age gap may or may not be the issue just like 'a greener neighbor lawn' may or may not be an issue, to a broken marriage...

my mom is far younger than my dad. they divorce when i was 2 years old.

from that point,i can say that my mom isnt satisfied with my dad. seeing that she's young and still wants to going out,dating with another man.

she has many secret lovers out there. i ever going out with them. believing that the person is only my mom's friend,but he's her secret lover.

maybe my mom regret marrying my dad. seeing that she's still young and wants to do many things aside being a boring housewives.

if my mom is ready to marry my dad and never thinking of her own freedom,this kind of problem wont happened.

if both couples are ready to attempt a marriage,then the gap between their age will never be a problem.

tbh, it's more about maturity level, and where each person is in his/her life. He may be looking for a wife at his age when you simply want a "lover". Either way, in my opinion if you're both on the same page you're good to go.
