[Locked] Which do you Prefer "Katana" or "Rifle"

For once, I have to agree with lollol1oll2 since every counterpoint he raises is true.

As for a katana splitting a bullet in half, it's true, it can break in half, but that's only if the sharp side is directly facing the gun's line of fire.

And let's think it about realisticly guys. If katanas were so fucking 1337, why don't modern armies use them? They don't because they aren't practical. I mean, they are 1337, but they aren't meant for modern combat anymore.

Katana requires skill while rifle (though I thought the opening image was that of a SMG) requires ammo.

I would pick the one which I can use without hurting myself.

MEHE a katana rifles r to loud and is limited in fighting power and katana is like a close range sniper with a nice swish sound


idk i never thought of splitting a bullet or anything i rather jsut dodge one if distance is far enough i like a katana because theres effort and styles and different ways to use it rather than a gun that is boring its not like u can cruve a bullet =/
wouldn't u rather watch a sword fight then a gun duel

or a sword that shoots guns that shoot swords

if i have the skill like the guy whose use dual sword in X-Men Origins Wolverine then i would go for the katana even in real life i probably go for katana for the reason of...

2 LOOK SOO COOL(if only it real)
3 rifle will run out of bullets sooner or later soo best go with katana unlimit slash
4 best close combat weapon if those the only 2

Dodge a bullet? Honestly? Distance doesn't mean very much when most guns fire (at least) over 160 miles per hour. You can't fucking dodge that.

I can say that /every/ argument about a sword in modern combat is moot.

well...I go for rifle or guns, makes me awesome like gangsta though I'll keep katana for collection purposes because they just look elegant for me.

I'll choose any firearm over a close combat weapon anytime, cos i can just shoot the mother fucker who is charging me with the sword while i calmly my sights at that person.

I personally prefer the M-14 or AR-15

3. unlimited slashes? Dude, do you even know how heavy a katana is? It isn't something that you can swing around indefinitely and your arms will tire.
4. I'd rather take you out with a shotgun from 10 yards then try and close in with a katana with a range of 8 feet at best. (arms + sword length)

btw my choice of close-combat weapon would be a bayonet for my rifle since it allows my rifle to act like a spear.

Dude, there are so many ways to disarm an armed opponent if it isn't a gun. And while a guy might be bluffing with a gun, if he isn't, you're going to be dead faster than you can lift a katana up.

I'll go with a rifle. More specifically... a sniper rifle. The M-82.

Or... I'll go with the M4A1.... Lol. With a grenade launcher attachment and a bayonet at the end and an ACOG scope. xD Lol.

I think a guy with a gun is much more intimidating. It's like... "I can kill you with this slight movement of my finger at any time." and all you can do is stare at them with your hands up or whatever.

Unless of course, you have Kevlar on, but if it's a rifle... Kevlar isn't going to help much on higher calibur bullets...
