[Locked] Which do you Prefer "Katana" or "Rifle"

Rifle.I'm horrible at stealth with me being a big mofo so I'd go with quick and painless.And what I'm using this ,war?

I'll go with a P90, that things is crazy. Katanas are cool too.

I prefer a Katana over a rifle i dont like anytype of guns so i would never bother with a rifle

"Blade and body lasts forever"... But put that joke aside.. Even though its a professional warrior/fighter, I could get him down before he gets me. I would only need a G3 or M14, or something what is really deadly.. even after a single hit.

OR nasty close combat. Swing your katana like you are a badass, and when he/she gets closer, use a Saga or USAS12.. "Kinder surprise".. :)

And I also keep stressing this - this is modern warfare laddies. You don't see soldiers or guerillas wielding katanas in close-range close-quarter combat do you? No, the ARs, shotguns, and handguns used today. The era of swords is over. OVER. /rant

Though if I couldn't get my hands on any gun, the next best thing I'd get would be a katana without a doubt.

Well I think people aren't using it in modern warfare because yeah its outdated and the use of guns puts swords to a disadvantage but in my opinion its like the katana was just minimized to that of knives now. So if that was the case then katanas are used in modern warfare =P but in all seriousness the katana is more popular and since we're all otakus who watched how badass fantasy makes them it makes us choose it. As for guns it pertains to those who play call of duty or for w/e other reason and for someone with a melee weapon to even get close enough for a strike seems all but impossible. Anyways the point I'm trying to make is that we can't really tell which is better because different situations count for different kinds of outcomes.

P90 is best use against opponents who use ballistic vests like kevlar and other sythetic body armour. The rounds are the 5.7x28mm subsonic rounds which are good against armour compared to the MP5's 9mm rounds. Plus the compact frame and bullpup design allows it to be wield in better close combat then the MP5.

The use of swords, bayonets etc. were outdated at the onset of WW1 were machineguns and repeater rifles and indirect artillery made them redundant. Though some did see usage by raiding parties and the Japanese during WW2.

Though knights were seemed redundant back during the late medieval and rennaisance era when crossbows were introduced as they can pierce plate armour with ease. I suppose every era has its modern technological innovations and useless artifacts.

The advent of efficient projectile weapons make melee combat near irrelevant. If you can kill them from far away, that's much preferred than getting up close and personal.

If you want to go up close, instead of a P90, go with AA12 Automatic Shotgun... xD That'll shred through armor.

melee weapons are all about technique, without extensive training and a proper mentality its hard to be successful against a skilled enemy. guns are different, anyone knows how to aim and pull. but that doesnt mean that people haven't distinguished themselves as superior marksmen throughout the ages. carlos hatchcock, a famous sniper who served in vietnam, had 93 confirmed kills during his two tours of duty.

that being said, anything you can afflict in hand to hand combat i can do better from 700 yards away. i say that veraciously because i shoot in sniper competitions with my father, its practically a family practice now. i'll stick with the rifle thanks.

I love both, slash with katana, jump diagonally, shoot rifle. Just like in super robot wars.
