My mother casually mentioned my younger sister seems to believe in it. I'll have to ask her about it next time I see her. It'd be plenty creepy if she was legitimately serious.

Meh, the world is bound to end but I doubt somewhere as soon as 2012, especially since its so close (year wise) after the Y2K incident, I believed more the Y2K incident than this 2012 religious crap.

I don't think it's true...because we are the ones who are making our planet weak, 2012 is just a collective example of example of "If you're human and you've got the fault, blame someone else" but I respect everyone's opinion

No because, there is no credible or solid scientific evidence that says 2012 will happen. Also, not to sound like a jerk or anything OP (since I think I get what you're asking me), but doesn't, "Why do you believe 2012 will happen? if you do don't explain why." sound contradictory? Perhaps a rephrase may help, IMO.

Do you have ANY idea how many predicted "apocalypses" there have been? They've been predicting them for hundreds, if not thousands of years. I have high doubts that this will be the one exception.

1. Who ever said the 2012 end of the world prediction included Jesus it's based off the Mayan calendar.
2. If some messed up emperor/association told me and my buddies to make a calendar to the end of time, I'd die before I finished, or get fucked up by the Spaniards when they invaded but eh-same thing.

it's based off the mayan calander, they ended it at 2012 cause they obviously couldn't be fucked making any more years, or they died in the process (as said above)
But still, even if the mayans predition was true, why should we believe them? (the following statement may be what happened to aztecs instead of mayans, but i'll see if i can get it right) The mayans build a great water system and everything, so that when it rained, they would obtain lots of water for their civilisation... but guess what? it didn't rain. stupid noggers died out cause of it. why should i believe something that was created by them?
Also, all these religious end of world things have yet to come true.. why doesn't religion just realise it's fucking stupid and get on with life. No, jesus will not come to the earth and kill everyone on the planet who doesn't believe..
The fact is: Jesus WOULDN'T kill off all the non believers.. unless it's the world collapsing and dying, and even then, that is wrong. the planet has an estimated 2million or so years left of its life.

There are so many 'end of the world' scenarios out there that keeping track of one is simply a ridiculous idea. in my opinion, people should stop concerning themselves with the dates and simply move on with there lives already. no point in waiting for something that might not happen,

I went to a seminar on it and apparently they didn't predict destruction, but instead a change in the way the world is. This could be anything. The speaker seemed to believe it will be an awakening of the human mind.

2012 is just a big scare tactic. Just like Y2K or that pastor who said the world was going to end a few months ago. If the world ends, it ends. There's nothing we can do about it. The Mayans built their calender over 5000 years ago. And based from everything I know about Mayans, at 12/21/2012 (winter solstice) the sun is supposed to line up with the galactic center of the Milky Way Galaxy. And they believed at that time, one of their "gods" would come back and do "something". That something, I don't know and I don't care. And as for the bible stating the world will end in 2012, I don't know about that. I have never seen any years stated in the bible in the Book of Revelations about the world coming to an end with the "Apocalypse".
