What does being a feminist mean to you?

For me, Feminism is the belief that women have just as much social, economic, and behavioral [especially sexual - noncommittal men can sleep around and be applauded for it, while women are taught to be proper, pine away for a steady relationship or otherwise, she is called a whore.] liberties as men. Women should be able to wear what best expresses their personal tastes [within reason. Guys don't go around in just boxers, so I don't exactly think it's appropriate for women to bear 80% more skin than fabric], get paid for the jobs they do, and be loved for who they are.

Feminism is defined as gender equality. Women should be granted the same social graces as men.

Well, in today's society, a man saying that he was raped is considered laughable. It's not taken as seriously as a woman saying the same thing. Only way I can see it is that if another man was the one who raped him, and the guy would probably never come out and tell anyone because it would probably be too embarrassing and humiliating.

Another thing about those women who either admitted or were found to be falsely accusing a man of rape faced no charges themselves. An example was when two house wives took a girls night out, and ended up having consensual sex with a man. The next morning, the women were ashamed of their actions, and tried to charge the guy of raping both of them. The guy would have been convicted and sentenced with the two women's claims having him doomed, if he had not provided pictures on his phone that provided evidence that they were not forced upon.

And the women just walked away. Another string of cases where taxi drivers are threatened by women drop the fair, or have them call the cops and claim sexual assault. This one case had a taxi driver pick up a trio of women, and one of them tries to start smoking. Driver tells her she can't, and she threatens to call the cops. She starts smoking and he tells her to leave, she doesn't get out, so the driver calls the cops. The girls are all supporting each others claims of assault, and most likely have the guy facing charges, but the guy happened to have a video camera for just this very situation.

In all these cases, the women face no charges as they try to frame these people. I'm not sure if a male would get the same treatment or not, but this is still a problem that needs to be seen in the Judicial system.

I think its important to point out in our society a woman can be fired for for being too attractive

I fully support classical feminist ideals of an equal society (by equal I mean equality of opportunity not equality of outcome). I am general dismissive or disdainful of "modern" feminists for reasons stated in the quote above.



Images such as this I believe are an example of how modern feminism is becoming a joke. Society already teaches people to not rape because we punish them severely by;

- Force them to publicly register as sex offenders.
- Make sure the information of the offender including their name, face, last known place of residence is easily available to the public.
- Legally require those individuals to tell their immediate neighbors that they are a sex offender.
- Restrict where they can live to laughable degrees.
- Finally shunning and treating sex offenders with outright contempt in society.


all of these restrictions will remain with them for the rest of their life including whenever they receive a background check for a job.

However, such individuals as the one above imply (while perhaps not intentionally) that all men are unrelenting beasts that are a hair away from snapping and raping any woman who happens to be within reach. Teaching a woman how to defend herself from a deranged and sick individual is not a fault of "the patriarchy" it's people trying to inform you on methods to defend yourself from a sick individual. It is no different than telling someone to not go walking or jogging alone at night and to take a friend or to park in well lighted areas at night. It's not sexism, it's simple common sense to keep you from getting hurt because there are twisted individuals out there.

Another thing, some of these "feminists" would demand an "equal" society but, then fight when people attempt to remove the few privileges society has granted women because men were expected to do something for them (such as picking up the check after a meal).

Um, lol... I assure you most feminists are more than happy to "go Dutch" on the dinner bill (in fact, many I know, including myself, insist on it at least early on, if not always).

And if you mean laws surrounding assault/harassment and such? They benefit everyone: you just don't see as many males seeking out the help of such law publicly (god forbid the press make clear that abuse is not exclusively happening to females and children). That needs to change, as more men need to know that there is NOTHING wrong with seeking help and that they are not some rare case.

Abortion & child care related privileges are two common examples. Though, I speak of any law, legal tradition, societal tradition, etc that treats a woman differently than a man.

First, if a couple have sex and the woman doesn't want the child but, the man does, he's S.O.L. despite the child being 50% his property as well. In essence his property will be destroyed and he has no rights nor legal voice in the decision.

Second If the woman wants the child but, he doesn't then he's still S.O.L. for 18 years as he'll be forced to be extortion levels of money in child care while the legal system protects the woman from responsibility.

In other words, the woman can abort her responsibility for a child while the man has no voice in the decision.

Additionally, I believe if such women want equality then they should be fighting for inclusion in the selective service program (the draft) just like men do upon their 18th birthday.

Fourth, during custody cases it is extremely difficult for men to acquire custody of their child as the legal system is primarily on the side of the woman with a pre-existing bias that the woman will be a better parent.

Finally, I believe women should also be punished equally for sexual assault such as child molestation. Yet, the legal system tends to give these women a slap on the wrist when compared to a man in an equivalent situation.



I'm in agreement, it really shouldn't matter who picks up the check. However in some women expect the man to pick up the check, otherwise he's viewed as "cheap" and generally will be made fun of later for that behavior.

I think feminism varies depending on people and how extreme they are. Men can also be feminists whether they are trying to defend their wives, daughters, loved ones etc. I think feminism is in every women who have self-worth. Those who let men walk all over them can't really be called feminists but just merely sticking up for yourself, doesn't matter if it's about gender and femininity, can be a very mild case of feminism. I think it's about women having a voice in something. Extreme feminism is what I think is not real feminism - that's like using feminism as an excuse to fulfil your own big self-importance and those people really make women look bad.
