Quick reality check on the difficulty, because if I have to start over, I'd prefer to do it sooner than later...

I'll offer a couple of ways around this:
1) Change your OS unicode to japanese. The reason why there's ??? for the filename is because your OS can't read the characters.
2) Use the english translation installer

That's still maybe doable, depending on who's on your roster. Demon army is a simple fight of attrition if you can't storm them, basically if you have any SAT bonuses left, use them on the power that drops unit replacement cost. IIRC, you can do this to the point where they drop cost to 2 (1 for footman, knights, and anyone with healthy body). Then just grind them down Xavier's troops to dust. On 0 and 1 star, at some point they pretty much run out of money to fight you offensively.

I have to admit, the Shimazu brothers really are a pain in the ass. Especially the warrior one. =\

ok im fucking screwed on this I know im on like turn 100 somethin and they have mouri takeda the triforce symboled one uesugis turf AND the one they start with! is there any way to turn down the difficulty mid game or am I fucked all around? oh and by they I mean the demon army and where the hell do you get the lemons for the demon lord girl???

I believe the lemons are in Mikan territory, where the former Tenshi sect is. It's registered as a dungeon.

Okay, big problem here.

I've got the same problem that others have had before with the fonts not displaying correctly. I've got both the necessary fonts installed and I've tried reinstalling once or twice but I'm still getting long strings of periods where words should be. Not just on the main screen, but all the text, including the menus and dialog. The game is essentially unplayable like this. Anybody know what's up here?

Okay, another general question here. Is it possible to sit back and level up like in most RPGs? I've gotten to a point where there are only 4 enemy countries left, and I absolutely cannot take the last building in the bottleneck country. If I farm satisfaction and gold for a while, will I be able to beat them eventually, or will they grow at a comparable (or faster?) rate as me?

Edit: So I've run up another 10 turns or so, still can't beat the bastards yet, but they don't seem to be getting any stronger. So that's good. Any long-term time limits I need to worry about?

Next Question, does anyone know where I could find an explanation of the hidden battle mechanics in this game? Like why does a 3:2 advantage sometimes decimate your target, but other times it's barely a scratch? (this is most noticable with ninja shurikens, and no, the answer is not just guards being up)

Edit 3: Nope, definitely more going on there than just buffs, especially against youkai.

work just fine since i got the movie thing before aswell then used the patch instead (like said you could skip step 3) and it worked like a charm ;)

I took over the Yokai's land and used that Kyuubi-chick Momachi(?) to blast 'em all to shit with her lightning attacks.
Probably could've done it anyway, but it was more fun this way~

yeah where I am standing in the game the yokai have about 90k troops where as I have about 26-28k so im not messin with them right now and after god only knows how many tries and sheer luck I managed to capture cairo but i shudder at the thought of taking all the other soldiers of nobus...i mean am I the only one who feels that its a lil bit bs how nobu gets to field all the troops with so little national power?
