“B-But, I-I said I wouldn’t need them!” Shiraishi weakly protested, the accessories were quickly winning over her. “Umm, then how about something simple… like that, l-like that ring?” Of course, Shiraishi had no clue what it meant when a boy would buy a ring for a girl. She had no inkling, other than it being a simple gift.
“Uhhhhhh-m…” Shouta’s tension started rising again. He knew slightly of the implications of buying a girl a ring. But, because Shiraishi didn’t seem to realize it, he felt it should be fine if he got it for her, anyways. Hopefully someone else doesn’t see us… There’s no way anyone wouldn’t think we’re a couple, now. Shouta cleared his throat and told the shopkeeper, “I’ll take that ring, then.”
“Okay then,” the shopkeeper replied as he packed the ring in a small blue box, then handed it over to him. “Good luck,” he whispered with an out-of-place smirk.
“Thanks!” Shouta accepted the ring and paid for it.
Shiraishi looked with excitement, but didn’t speak a word.
“Uhm…” Shouta was uncomfortable with giving Shiraishi the ring so openly. He wanted to find a more secluded location to give it over to her. “Er… uhm… D-do you mind if I wait until we find somewhere more private for me to give this to you…?”
“U-Um, sure, I guess,” Shiraishi answered, stuttering. She was too excited right now, perhaps it’d be best when she receives it in another time, as there are too many people around, since it’s the central town they’re in. Especially after meeting Mio, she’d need to be cautious.
“A-alright, then…” Shouta slowed his breathing. “Was there anything else you wanted to d-” He cut himself short. “Oh, right, we should go to a bakery. We still owe Kouzuki-san cookies for letting us use those inventions.” Shouta paused for a moment before adding, “I also need to pay him for the shoes…”
“Ah!” Shiraishi remembered. “I almost forgot about those cookies.” The event was too taxing and long, she had forgotten all the preparations and planning they did to begin with, only to be taken for a completely different ride by the whim of fate.
“How many did we need, again…?” Shouta dug through his memory from before they infiltrated the hospital, but, despite how recent it was, it seemed so long since it occurred due to everything else that had happened, so he completely forgot. “Whatever, I’m sure a small box is enough. Do you know where a good bakery is around here?” He asked Shiraishi, since he was still a bit unfamiliar with Central Town.
“I’ve never been to one, honestly,” Shiraishi answered, her flustered expression subsided as she replied. “Hmm, I think I’ve heard of one, I’ll lead the way,” walking to a different direction after leaving the shop with Shouta, she replied.
”Alright, let’s go.” Shouta followed closely behind Shiraishi.
