How did you get into anime?

yep...that was what i started with as well. DBZ and Sailor Moon where my first two, Thank God For Toonami...everyday after school.

[color=olive][font=Tahoma]I grew up watching anime on our television and buying mangas with my allowance. Then thank the gods for the internet. ❤ [color=olive][font=Tahoma] The oldest and the first anime I've watched was Doreamon. ❤ The oldest shoujo animes I've watched were My Daddy Long Legs, Remi: Nobody's Girl (This made me cry~), The Secret Garden, Little Princess Sara, Little Women, and Heidi: Girl of the Alps. The first anime OP I've memorized and sang was the Voltes V sequence song. Let's volt in! XDD

I remember going to the beach one time, and my family went to a mall. I then went inside a store, and saw several Chobits volumes. I scanned through them, and thought that they looked kind of neat, so I got them. From then on, I was hooked.

I did like Sailor Moon before that, though, but I wouldn't say that I really got into the genre until I read Chobits.

it started out with pokemon then yugiho, pretty much from gundam, fist of the northstar, pretty much i got into anime when TOONAMI used to air on cartoonnetwork which was when i was 10 or so. i dont watch that much anime because i dont know that to watch its hard to find something with my interets. the last anime i watched was rosario vampire seasons 1and 2, still waiting on the 3rd season i dunno if it aired yet or not.and manga pretty much staked on the anime. being that the anime and manga of a any series go in differnt orders such as in the anime this guy dies but in the manga he is in the hospital

I started with dbz and pokemon. But once adult swim came out I started watchin inuyasha and yu yu hakusho

I was into Naruto for a looooong time, and then I got into film and writing and learned all about story structure and good storytelling. I used my newfound knowledge to realize how shitty Naruto really was, and I quit cold turkey.

Now, I watch only good anime!

I guess my first anime was pokemon, but everyone watched pokemon back then without knowing what anime even was.

I suppose my first anime then really was Naruto. I was in a hospital bed and decided to turn the Tv on since I was really bored. It was on cartoon Network and was showing the scene where Naruto takes a Kunai knife to the hand from Kabuto while trying to protect Tsunade.

I was like, "Wow, this isn't Tom and Jerry..."
It was a marathon so I just zoned out to some naruto for the next couple hours.

My brother said there were "Mangas" and I thought, "Magmas? Like lava?" So I looked at the webs and found Naruto mangas and was Like:

Then I stumbled across Naruto hentai and was like:

Hmmm.... Bandwagon moment! Like everyone else I started with DBZ, Pokemon, Digimon (I SAID IT, DIGIMON...don't judge me...), Flint the Time Detective, and Monster Rancher. The term back then was Japanimation or Japanese cartoons lulz.

I heard about the term manga when I was in 9th grade with the circle of friends i had. The manga in question? Love Hina. Now what would be on a 14 year old's mind when looking at Love Hina? T and A right? I was probably the only one who not only Read LH for the sexiness but I also liked the story and characters.

Girls at school talking about Sailor Moon is what raised my awareness of anime, while I started watching Transformers not too long afterwards (I consider it an anime, anyways).

But asides from Hayao Miyazaki films, anime didn't interest me all too much. I've been fairly well-informed these past years, but I didn't really watch anything after the first season of Pokemon.

However- early this summer- I've been into quite an accident, which has basically put me into a state of house arrest until likely summer 2011.

With nothing but time on my hands, I've been on an anime binge. I've watched perhaps 20 or so entire seasons in the past 5 months (Code Geass, TTGL, Gunslinger Girl, Azumanga Daioh- the like).

Although not full-blown otaku, I definitely gained several levels in nerd this year.

Nadia the Secret of Blue water. My locale library had the entire collection, shit was so epic. Every other week I'd take another one out, until me and my brother had worked are way through the entire series. I still remember waiting for almost a 2 years or so for the last episodes to be released in English. Oh, the nostalgia.

DAyum. My memory is hazy.

All I remember is, as early back as I got into the genre, Evangelion/Samurai Pizza Cats/Akira followed by bouts of Voltron, Speed Racer, Galaxy 999, Capt. Harlock and then later DBZ, Sailor Moon, Tekno Man, Card Captor Sakura, Mega Man with Ghost in the Shell and Ninja Scroll.

Dunno WHICH one got me started rofl.

Curiously enough, my first manga wasn't manga, but a weekly manwha mangazine by the name Champs. It was there I "read" Tenjho Tenge, Chrno Crusade, Chronicles of the Cursed Sword, Zero: Beginning of the Coffin, Rebirth, and NOW. Plus a story that resembled Comic Party, but totally different. Can't even remember it.

DBZ, Doraemon and Voltes V. Then Pokemon and Digimon and the rest is history.

For getting into anime, for me it was really Sailor Moon i was so happy they finally made an action cartoon for girls since my olders brothers were jerks and wouldn't let me watch DBZ with them.though what really hooked onto me was Pokemon it was the fad back then but my older brother really liked Pikachu and i did too and we started to get along simply because of that for the very first time. i was so happy.So for me i'm very fond of Pokemon because it let me establish i relationship with my brothers and a longer last love for anime.

(dang that sounds lame and cheezy but it is what it is)

For manga it was from my older brother too haha he introduced me to this manga site that mostly had at least 10 comics or so,he just used it to read one comic and i wanted to read something else i didn't see on tv and well it was ichigo 100% i'm not sure why but that particular series caught my eye.Then soon after my mom took me to the bookstore and i brought my own manga Chobits and DNAngel that i saw advertised in a issue of(now deceased in the US)Newtype magazine my brother loaned from a friend.And i haven't stop reading it eversince

Hmm... Interesting question. I just... WATCHED. Been watchin since I've been three... So I'd say at least almost 20 years now... Just remember a good ol "ATATATATATATATATATA HOKUTO HYAKURETSU KEN!!! Some people its just getting into it via recommendations... I just grew up with it... Funny that.

It would have to be watching Pokemon on TV many moons ago and then searching for random bits of it online.

Ah funny thing is, I had gotten netflix around march of this year and saw the anime section and thought I'd watch some to laugh because of how STUPID I thought it was, but the one I clicked on, the Life hobby changing video, Last Exile, and I sat down one day to watch it... Haven't picked up a live action movie since.

So I only started with anime this year because I just never liked the ones they showed on tv here (bleach, naruto etc). Also, i hated the fans (weeaboos to the core). I don't care to much for manga, to expensive for what little you actually read
