[Locked] 2012 Real? Or A Scare Tactic?

Nah, i mean not spent the money on movie tickets. I mean that they should spend it, because "the end is near", instead of saving it up (as a lot of people tend to save up money).

2012 is the year Obama leaves office.

Thats the best proof i've heard to support the 2012 claim. I guess after he is gone we will elect whoever can promise to protect us from...wait, whats supposed to happen again?

i saw some thing on some news site about a solar "burp" thats gonna happen some time by the end of 2012 to the first few months of 2013, apparently it will cause earth quakes and cause power outages and stuff. apparently it will do more damage in america because of the ozone-greenhouse thingy (no idea what its called)
apparently NASA says this is true but at most it's probably just gonna cause earthquakes and power outages and take up to ten years to recover.

Though the sun is getting more and more active and some freaky stuff is going on out there, I don't think 2012 is real. I sure hope not anyway or all the hard work I've done up until now will be wasted.

no...its based on what the mayans said ..or some people aztecs? i dont know but they made that calender to go to 2012....well maybe they stop because one of them said "Dude what the hell are we doing making a huge ass calander, lets stop at 2012."
Also some one else did that 2012 thing with numbers, well lets say this ANYONE CAN CRUNCH NUMBERS TO WHATEVER SOLUTION THEY WANT!

the threat of Sara Palin becomeing president in 2012 is a real threat to the United states and countrys around the word.

she will become a maverick by nuking random countrys such as Luxembourg,Mongolia and Chile. she will build many spy satellites over Russia so she can not only see it from her house in Alaska but also the White House.
after that she will kick out all people of non-Anglo ancestry and force your religion on to you.
all people who are not protestant Christians will have to pack up get on a boat and sail for a new land.
and finally after creating the Holy American Empire she will make homosexual acts punishable by death

*cough* Anyway, I don't really believe it will happen either. I can see /why/ people believe it will happen. For me, if it happens it happens. If its judgment day then so be it. But It'll probably just be another normal year.

As far as all the sayings about the world ending. There have actually been quite a few things that have come true. Strange and unpredictable Earthquakes, major weather fluctuations (we got a 4-week blizzard last April here...in April...eh, we can blame it on Global Warming, but it still happened xP), failing global economy, etc.

I'm definitely in the camp that just believes the Mayans just decided to stop at 2012. I mean, a calendar has to stop somewhere. And they didn't exactly have an infinity symbol back then...and that'd be pretty useless on a calendar anyway.

Personally, I do believe that 2012 to be a very real thing; it is coming.

I honestly believe that there is a strong possibility that something will happen in the year 2012 as has been predicted. Whether or not that will actually affect the earth in the way that is predicted I can't be too sure. If it happens it happens, we can't avoid it on such short notice.

Didn't they essentially say the same thing about the year 2000? Hell, they even made a movie about it as a theory, starring Arnold Schwarzenneger (End of Days). So...did the world end in a fiery ball of fire on New Year's Day? Not...really...at all...

Well, there has been a theory of "Collective Unconsciousness" - not the Code Geass version - albeit it does seem like a devious one:

We assume that most people on the planet know about "2012" by now. The "Collective Consciousness" of the world knows about it and whether more people fear it or laught at it is unimportant. The subconscious however "wishes" for it to happen in one way or another. The "Collective Unconsciousness" is now at work - the theory says that whatever the "Collective Unconsciousness" "wishes" for actually comes true.

This theory deals with all major catastrophes of the past - and even minor ones - in a way or another.

I don't believe in it, but there is always "doubt".

In all honesty, I don't think so. I think there will be solar flares and stuff of that nature, but nothing catastrophic will happen at all.

Last time I heard it's on 2012, but nowadays I heard it will be on 21st May 2011, getting ridiculous somewhat?
