Well, if the city hadn't wasted its levee money on city beautification for mardi gras the year before(I used to live in new orleans, they didn't use the money alloted to them and instead, blamed bush and fema after the fact) maybe those levees would have held, Also for those that died? They stayed out of their own dang stubbornness.
Bad things in life can be attributed to 5 basic things Stupidness, Stubbornness, Greed, Lust, and People not listening to warnings.
So it is actually not Gods fault, its the people who decided to not heed the warnings and get the hell out of dodge before it hit the fan.
An atheist will never say anything is God's fault because gods don't exist.
Similarly irksome is when religious folk claim that there's no evidence supporting their god's non-existence. Things that do not exist tend not to leave any evidence.
On a final note, in my humble opinion, I think you should be thanking your surgeon more than god, even if god did play some role.

Religion the way I see it is that it can be a kind of support for people who've had a conviction in their life lost and/or will weakened. That's fine until things get out of hand set unto a dogmatic crusade where what their leaders and literature say is always right and everything else is wrong because the rest of us not believing everything we're told are gonna burn in Hell. The worst being Scientology, a whole thread can go to that topic; but in the end it's fine for those people who accept it and believe, just don't go preaching about ignorance forcibly on others.

I personally don't believe God exists. Of course, if he did, he easily could make it so that we all knew he did. Why does he keep hiding? All the evidence to suggest that he does not exist just keeps growing and growing. His Holy Book keeps being disproved over and over.

Tell you the truth, I'm not sure if we can ever prove the existence of God, that's not saying that humans ever will!

How it was is the question. That is why I am a theist, I believe God was that creator, but following through is where I, and ALL theists, are stuck at.
