And weed is illegal but still this happened. So do the laws work here? Actually banning drugs makes things worse. Some people actually admit it to themselves that they have a drug problem, but what can they do about it? People are usually afraid of other people finding out about their problem because drugs are illegal. So they dont seek help because they are afraid that they might end up in jail or something.
Also I must ask how do you know he was addicted? Did smoking weed actually affect him in some negative ways or did his gf (and you) leave him just because YOU dont accept drugs? Is he at fault here or do the others just make a way too big deal out of it?
I'm sorry if I seem rude, but thats too often the case. Some people just like smoking weed and it actually doesnt affect their life in any negative way. But then some people close to that person just dont accept drugs and then they demand that person to quit or they dont want anything to do with him.
And dont get me wrong, I know that even tho I see weed as a harmless drug, there are still people who shouldnt use it. But I dont think its because "weed is addictive" its because those people are in general more vulnerable to getting addicted to something. I dont see weed as anymore addictive than sugar or video games [size=10](especially online games (WoW))[/h]. If you start eating candy every day for a month, it can be hard to quit eating it every day.
Everything in moderation. And most of people who dont use drugs in moderation will use them, no matter what laws say about it.
Also banning tobacco wouldnt stop people from smoking and dying from lung cancer because of it. And banning alcohol wouldnt stop people from drinking it and driving while drunk.
So nope, I dont think any of those 3 are good enough reasons to ban things.
