Seeing that Kris had taken over the situation and was handling it nicely, Cliff saw no reason to comment as he listened. As the conversation came to a conclusion, it was announced that everyone was going to rest a bit before leaving for the lab, and thus Cliff was escorted upstairs to his own room. The room was very well kept, and was fitted with a large bed, several drawers, a desk, and a large mirror.
Cliff dismissed the maid who had escorted him and walked into the room, closing the door behind him. He walked to the desk and opened one of it's draws to find a stack of blank stationary.
Hm... Well, isn't that convenient? Cliff took a seat at the desk, and took out a sheet of stationary, as well as one of the pens on top of the desk and sat in deep thought before scribbling equations and measurements, and drawings onto the piece of paper.
I've gotten enough sleep. I've run on no sleep for 4 days before; this is nothing. I need to be ready to use that lab as quickly and efficiently as I can.
"It's been a pleasure to have such a beautiful maid escort me to my room," Satoru said as his waived his guide away. As soon as the door was closed he let out a heavy sigh, the atmosphere of the whole place was very tense and he was happy to be alone. Satoru sat on the edge of the neatly made bed, and unsheathed his katana, for the first time in a while cleaning the blade and thoroughly taking care of it. He was reminded of his ex-girlfriend coming in from the rain, and found some sleeping pills on the beside table and went to sleep to shut out the painful memory.
Kris walked with Kahori into the room and took a look around. For a guest room they were pretty decent sized rooms. Complete with dressers and a desk. Even a body sized mirror in the corner. But the bed was definitely not big enough for two people. He was going to try to convince Kahori to sleep in her own room, but he remembered her episode on the boat. If the group was going to be at their best everyone needed to get their rest.
"We'll have to share," said Kris sighing silently.
Removing his helmet he placed it to the side of the bed. Removing his suit so that he had on his pants and under shirt he sat down and folded them up.
Kahori walked over the opposite side of the bed from Kris. She set down her bag at the foot of the bed on the floor, and gazed at the bed.
"Are you sure we're not supposed to remove all our clothes? I read in the encyclopedia that couples would get into bed together sometimes."
Kris coughed.
"That is for grown up couples Kahori... And we aren't a couple!" said Kris finishing up his clothes.
"What kind of books were you reading in that library?"
"The entire Encyclopedia Britannica. I only brought it up because there's only one bed, so I thought the maids thought we were a couple," Kahori said as she got underneath all of the covers with her clothes on. She gave out a slight moan as she settled in.
"This is so comfortable. It beats every other bed I've slept in. And the pillow too. Geez, these are really nice. Silk and down feathers?"
"But you are the one who asked to..." Kris started, but Kahori was already in heaven exploring the wonders of the bed.
"I don't think the maids would think that," said Kris.
At least I hope they didn't he thought. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he yawned.
"Anything is better than sleeping on the floor of a boat," Kris said laying down on top of the covers. Grabbing the other pillow, he wrapped his arm around it submerging his head in comfort.
"You know, these pillows really are nice," he said laughing.
"I know, right?" Kahori asked rhetorically as she started drifting to sleep.
"Goodnight Kahori," Kris said as he closed his eyes and went to sleep.
Uther dismissed the maids as they let him inside his room.
Now that they are gone... Uther carried his bag to bed and took out a toolbox that he got from inside the vehicle he rode with Kotori. He put it on a desk across the room and also put his guns there,
Dead weight, I should just take what is lighter and easier to use. Maybe there's a Swiss Army Knife in there, Uther thought as he opened the tool box. There was only a couple of wrenches, bolts, nuts, and a screw driver. Uther closed the tool box and put it near a trash bin.
I should sleep, Uther threw himself on to the bed and he soon fell to his dream lands.
Hilda puts down her bag in the desk as she sighs,
"For me to be tired after swinging that sword in the plane... I guess I do need a bit of rest, after all, she glanced at her sword; leaning the wall on the other side of the bed. Hilda then walked to her bed and laid down.
Not bad for comfort... she thought as her vision drifted to darkness; leaving reality.
"Is this my room?" Christine asked the maids whom escorted her.
"Well, thank you then. You can leave now," Christine bowed towards the maids and entered her room. She put down her backpack near the bed and took her phone.
As I thought, no energy left. Haaa, if only I took my notebook at the hotel back then. Christine spaced out for a while, thinking about what should she do later. She charged her phone and checked her gun.
Wasted 35 bullets and still haven't killed one zombie. What should I do now, Dad? Christine took a few deep breaths while laying down on the bed.
Just for once, let me forget everything...
Iteyui snapped back to life as she fumbled to the ground just after entering the room, clasping her head. The maid who found her strange looked concerned and murmured a string of words, but Iteyui couldn't make out a word she was saying as her mind was fogged by sudden realisation. In a quick movement of the hand, Iteyui dismissed the maid.
"Just... go."
Iteyui tried to pull herself together and regain her composure.
What...what just happened? What was I doing? She could only ask herself questions.
"Last thing I remember was exiting a plane...agh...where is this?" It was as if she had spaced out completely while moving soullessly along, and nobody could notice at all. With all energy sapped from her body and unable to think clearly, Iteyui left her haversack that had its contents strewn about the floor, and crawled to the bed to hopefully get some sleep. However, she felt like she slept for days to come, had just woken up, and was going to sleep again. She continued to stare at the ceiling, trying to match her eye movements to the fan's blades. She laid there undisturbed.
Ayane laid down on her bed, and closed her eyes while shoving her thoughts and worries aside, it is time to rest, and she has important things to deal with after she wakes up, she set an alarm on her phone to ring after about three hours, instead of four. She probably had some work to do.
***
It seemed that as everyone somewhat slept in the four hours, the maids and servants soon knocked the doors of the guests in order to wake them up, except for the room on which Kris and Kahori slept, as Ayane knocked on it instead, with papers holding information about the lab.
The time has come to head out for business.
