As Sophia enters the Humvee, she seems to be slightly distracted as Christine greeted her and urged her to sit in-between Cliff and herself. Nonetheless, once Sophia sat down, Christine struck a conversation. As Christine asked Sophia what her name was, she replied asking both Cliff and Christine for their names as well.
"Oh, Sophia... Can I call you Nana? I'm Christine and that ... errr stupid man next to you is Cliff." Christine replied with mocking voice.
"I don't mind, but why Nana?" Sophia asked blankly. She was still quite confused of what happened here.
Cliff couldn't help but wince a bit in pain as Christine introduced him to the Sister. "Hey there, like Christine was saying, I'm Cliff, it's nice to meet you." As Cliff was speaking, he couldn't help but feel an intense, brief glare from Sophia.
"Sophia Arciana Calmina right? Na-na sounds cute." Christine replied happily. She felt happy that she had a new female companion.
"............", Sophia didn't know how to reply to Christine's answer. She turned her gaze outside instead.
She's a quiet type. As expected of nun. Christine put off her conversation with Sophia and pouted.
How can Christine come up with a nickname so quickly? Astonishing, Cliff thought.
"So, do you know what happened here?" Sophia suddenly threw a question while fixing her gaze to Cliff this time.
Once again, Cliff felt Sophia's intense glare, but this time, they locked eyes. "Uh... We're not really sure. As far as we know, these so-called zombies are running around, but we still don't know the cause or effect or anything for that matter except that the zombies are... obviously dangerous." Cliff seemed to really get into explaining his thoughts to Sophia despite her glare.
".... Then, why do we get transported into the harbor using this Humvee, while the others are walking?", Sophia threw another question even though she didn't really understand the reply Cliff gave to her.
"I'm just lucky. Really lucky." Christine replied to Sophia and gave a brief stare towards Cliff. "But once we get out from this island, we won't meet with 'them' again... Right?" Christine voice grew smaller when she said it.
"I really hope not Christine." Cliff answered Christine first before looking at Sophia to answer, "I'm not sure why you are here um... Sophia. Is it okay if I call you that? Na-Na is a bit.. *ahem*. But anyways, I'm a scientist and I was working in one of the science facilities in section D. And... I guess, they needed me on board-"
".... I'd very much MIND if you called me Nana too, Cliff," a stern gaze fell upon Cliff. She seemed to ignore the other explanations Cliff gave to her.
"Don't worry Nana-chan. We can trust him... He... ummm... saved me back then." Christine blushed and looked away from Cliff and Sophia.
"... So, are you two... lovers?" Another question blurted out. Sophia's expression remained unchanged, but the question itself might be too much to say otherwise.
Christine's head bumped on the window when Sophia blurted out that word. "That was an act! ACT!"
Cliff thought about Sophia's question for a bit even as Christine was flustered, "Actually, she's just shy. We're already engaged." Cliff said with a serious expression attempting to tease Christine yet again.
Christine's face grew red and tried to punch Cliff's face. However, as she reached over to land her punch, she seemed to lose her balance and frantically flayed around accidentally touching Sophia's breast.
"..........?", Sophia winched a bit as Christine's hand landed on her breasts. She looked at Christine's hand, then looking at Christine's blushing face. She clearly misunderstood something, as in a quick moment, she grabbed and buried Christine's face on her breasts.
"So soft..." Christine mumbled with small voice. "Eh! Sorry Nana-chan!" Christine moved away from Sophia while blushing as red as tomato.
All Cliff could do was watch the scene unfold. He saw Christine lunging at him, looking for something to hold onto, Christine's hand landing on Sophia's breast, and then Sophia bringing in Christine for a sudden, tight embrace. Cliff was going to say something, but before he could speak, the driver knocked on the glass that separated the front and back seat. It was clear that the three of them were making far too much noise.
Instinctively, Cliff yelled out to the driver, "Sorry about that!" The driver seemed to be content with just that.
Still with her indifferent expression, Sophia re-examined the two persons around her. Cliff indeed knew something that she didn't, but it's not really an issue for Sophia at the moment. Christine, on the other hand, looks like a hapless victim that got dragged into this mess somehow. One of them might be the reason of why Sophia got such a free pass to the harbor. However, she was quite content for now. At least she can get near Christine to investigate more about her. She needed to know why Christine seems familiar to her.
Christine regained her calm few seconds later. She stared at the black ocean. "I wonder, are there any ships coming for the rest..." Christine felt some sympathy for the crowds behind her.
"Yeah, I really hope so. But, we can't afford to think about it too much either," Cliff said in an almost stern voice while looking out the window. There were far, far less people than at the bridge.
The atmosphere became heavy and solemn as the three of them sat in silence. The Humvee simply continued its way across the bridge.
The Humvee slowed to a stop. The driver knocked on the glass once more, but opened afterwards this time. "We've arrived at the harbor. Head to the ship over there," the man said while pointing to one of the large ships on the dock. The man got out from his seat and walked over to open the door on Christine's side. As he opened it, he said, "You three be careful alright?" And with those parting words, the three of them walked onto the harbor and towards their ship, and their way off of Fakku Island.
Christine checked her watch. "11:50, I need sleep." Feeling exhausted from the journey, Christine rested her head on Cliff's shoulder and wrapped her arm around his as they are slowly walking. Sophia was following right behind them. There were announcements that the ship was leaving in 10 minutes.
It looks like we barely made it on time, Cliff thought as the three of them made their way onto the ship after a bit of walking.
